BROWNSTOWN (IL) – After a night off due to rain on April 25th, ninety cars made their way to Fayette County Speedway on May 2nd for an action packed night of racing.

In the Modified Division, Marion Blankenship was fast qualifier while Rusty Griffaw made a clean sweep by winning his heat, the dash and the feature. Other Modified Heat winners were Leon Rakers, Kyle Logue and Brent Mullins; Bobby Carter won the consi.

JJ Miller swept the Street Stock Division winning his heat, the dash and the feature. Ryan Driemeyer won the second Street Stock Heat.

In the Bomber Division, Modified Feature winner Rusty Griffaw did double duty and won his heat, won the dash and finished a very close second in the feature to Michael Bolyard. Feature winner Bolyard also won his heat. Jeremy Pate , who also did double duty in the Modified and Bomber divisions, won the third Bomber heat.

Bolyard & Bolyard swept the Team Car division winning their heat, the dash and the feature. Blankenship & Blankenship won the second Team Car heat and finished second in the feature after starting last in the feature (the rules specify the winner of the last regular night feature starts at the rear of the next regular night feature event).

In the Hornet Division, Dan Sandiford did a clean sweep and won his heat and dash, while Danil Sandiford won the second heat. Chance Morrison, the winner of the last regular night event started last in the Hornet feature and finished fourth. It was exciting evening in the Hornet Division with Gary Russell, Jr. ending up ½ on and ½ off the back stretch wall and Ashley Wilson rolling her Hornet after a racing incident involving several cars coming out of turn four. Thankfully, all drivers are OK!

The next event at Fayette County Speedway is a regular show on May 9, 2003 featuring UMP Modifieds, Street Stocks, Bombers, Team Cars & Hornets. Gates open at 5:00 p.m., Modified Qualifying at 7:30 and racing immediately following qualifying.

May is a packed month at the Speedway with the UMP Challenge of Champions Series making a stop on May 18th; this special Sunday show will feature UMP Late Models, UMP Modifieds, Street Stocks and Bombers. This special show will feature some of the best UMP Late Model drivers in the Midwest.

Memorial Day weekend will feature a $1,000 to win Modified Show during Friday, May 23rd’s regular night of racing. The 2-day Street Stock Shoot-Out on Sunday and Monday the 25th and 26th will pay $7,500 to win the A-Main if there are at least 100 cars in attendance. Other classes racing on during the 2-day event are Bombers ($1,000 to win the A-Main if there are at least 40 cars in attendance), Hornets ($500 to win the A-Main if there are at least 30 cars in attendance) and Team Cars who will run a full show each day. This event is drawing quite a bit of attention in the racing community and should be an event you will not want to miss!
