Final 2008 Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Points

Concord, NC— November 2, 2008—Donny Schatz used a series-best 18 A-Feature wins, along with 58 Top-10 finishes to wrap up his third consecutive Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship this season. The North Dakota native also had 46 Top-Five finishes and was one of just three drivers that led over 300 laps of feature racing competition this season.

Jason Meyers matched his career-best finish in points with a runner-up performance, on the strength of eight A-Feature wins and a preliminary feature victory. He led the series in Top-Five finishes with 48. He also topped the leader board in laps led and fast time honors in time trials. He was tied for the series leads in wins in the Crane Cams Dash to earn pole positions.

Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion, won seven times this season to bring his career total to 550. The Indiana native racked up 49 Top-10 finishes, with 33 of those being Top-Fives en route to a third-place finish in points.

Joey Saldana won five times this season for Kasey Kahne Racing, including a $25,000 triumph at Skagit Speedway in Washington. The 1996 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year amassed 45 Top-10 finishes, with 31 Top-Fives to finish fourth in points.

Jac Haudenschild was fifth in points this season on the strength of five A-Feature wins and 48 Top-10 finishes in his first year behind the wheel for the Carnahan Motorsports team. He won his third Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in California.

Kerry Madsen, the 2007 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year finished sixth in points, on the strength of 37 Top-10 finishes with eight Top-Fives, in his return to the Vermeer Motorsports team.

Craig Dollansky, who missed the final month and a half of the season after breaking his right arm at Eldora Speedway on September 19, wound up seventh in points, on the strength of seven A-Features wins, along with 44 Top-10 finishes and 32 Top-Fives.

Terry McCarl used a strong second half of the season to finish eighth in points. He won once this season and scored 32 Top-10 finishes, including 12 in the last 14 races of the season.

Chad Kemenah completed his first full season behind the wheel for the Hard 8 Racing team in the ninth spot in points. He racked up 37 Top-10 finishes, with 13 of those being Top-Fives.

Daryn Pittman rounds out the Top-10 in points, on the strength of four A-Feature wins, including the $50,000 Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway. The veteran driver had 31 Top-10 finishes in 2008.

Sam Hafertepe Jr. completed his sophomore season with the World of Outlaws 11th in points, on the strength of 18 Top-10 finishes.

Kraig Kinser wound up 12th in points in his full-time return to the World of Outlaws driving for Tony Stewart Racing. He won twice this season and had 19 Top-10 finishes.

Jason Sides wrapped the year up with his fourth Top-Five finish of the season to go along with 18 Top-10 runs. The 2003 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year was 13th in points.

Tony Bruce Jr. finished his sophomore season 14th in points. He won his first career race with the series at 34 Raceway in Iowa back in July.

Chad Hillier, also completed his second full season with the World of Outlaws, and was just behind Bruce in the standings. The Washington native picked up six Top-10 finishes in 2008.

Lucas Wolfe won the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award this season on the strength of nine Top-10 finishes, despite missing a significant amount of time in the summer with a fractured vertebrae in his back.

Paul McMahan, who joined the Parsons Motorsports team about halfway through the year completed the season with 18 Top-10 finishes, 16 of those in the No. 6 machine, helping the team finish 11th in owner points.

The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series wraps up the
2008 season on Sunday night with the series annual Awards Banquet in Charlotte, North Carolina. The 2009 season kicks off at Volusia Speedway Park with the 38th Annual Alltel DirtCar Nationals Presented by UNOH, February 6-8.
