Five St. Louis area tracks adjust Hoosier EMOD Tire Rule

seems to be a solid idea---they could poll the drivers mid june to see how it is working out--JMO

That's very unfortunate because it's by far the best of all of the emod tires. They are harder than the D, produce the same amount of speed as the D, are more consistent and last longer than the old style A, and bridge the gap to the H far better than any other option available. Complete knee jerk reaction and it's unfortunate.

The new tire for the five area tracks will be the Super Swamper Mud Bog. All the rain and more coming, we need a break.Opps that's Jacks job the weather man.

I think what we need to do is just shut the modified division down and not run us anymore until we decide on one set of damn rules. Jeez there has been more rule changes in the last 12 months in this class then the last 25 years I have raced in this class. When they decide to change these rules who are they contacting? I have never gotten a call asking me or any of the guys that help me on my car have ever gotten a call to see what we would like changed or if they should even change anything. How about this. IF YOU MAKE A RULE..................STICK TO IT!!!!! I am not a NASCAR Team with an unlimited budget where we can just keep changing tires and bodies every few nights because someone don't like the rules. There is a lot of things I do not like in racing but I just keep racing because I love the sport. I am not sure what has happened to racing but all this changing every few months is getting really old really quick. How about we run the Hoosier e-mod tires period. How much you wanna bet come Summer Nationals they tell us you can run the d's and the 40s tires???????????????

Not sure where your info comes from. I watched 2 cars burn off 3 sets in a 3 hour test. Very few local racers can afford that on a weekly basis. As race tracks we did this to keep drivers in the sport. Is the tire better? YES..9 tenths per lap. Does it wear better than old A as u say? Absolutely not! Can 20 guys a night afford to burn 3 of them up? Absolutely not! Can guys who can't afford them run with guys who can? Absolutely not. Against what you all believe, this decision was made to SAVE THE RACER MONEY! Shame on us as track promoters for giving trying to give our racers a more affordable set of tire rules!

My information came from testing, and I'm still testing. The tire has to much rubber on it from Hoosier and when you take that tread depth down with a tire lathe the tire lasts weeks, not one race. The driver I'm working with has ran the the same right rear A40S for 3 features in a row and the tire can probably go another 3 features. We have a win, a second and a fourth place finish against very stout competition. This is all done with zero chemical, only playing with tread depth and heat cycles. A little tire knowledge goes a long way before making an uneducated decision as a promoter trying to save the racer money as you say.

What I would really like to see is the purestock guys running a street tire again, the emods cost way too much for the payout they get! And as far as the mod guys, they should be able to run any emod compound they want!

So what is the cost to get it turned down so you can get 6 nights out of it?

I have raced 5 nights with my bmod had the same left rear right front and left front on for 5 heats and 4 of the features but the as40 will not hold up on the right rear but I think it wears good on all the other corners I hate to see it go

Racers shouldn't have to go through the hassle time and expense to do this to tires. This ain't Nascar. These tires should be manufactured ready to race period. Hard tires!

I personally have not done anything except mount the tires and grind them like I do every tire and I have not had any problem. What I do not understand is why we switched then switched back. So what am i supposed to do with the tires I have? Why not just let the guys who have them run them because we must be at a disadvantage since they are such bad tires let us run them and let the guys who want the so called good tires run them. If your trying to save us money as a promoter then maybe just maybe quit changing the damn rules. THAT WOULD SAVE US MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know what you're right, we shouldn't have to play with our carbs, shocks, chassis or anything else to make them work right either.
You are correct. As part of racing, drivers are constantly looking for the edge. You mess with the carbs, you mess with shock and spring setups, weight, and even engine size depending on track. Shouldn't tire testing be a part of this too? If someone has figured out how to get the tire to last without soaking it, maybe you can figure out what they are doing, and run with it.

Me, personally, I think the drivers should have a choice, instead of running just Hoosier tires. Have a tire war, open it up to Goodyears and American Racers.
