Sean, since you are no longer a part of the Corporation I know you will shoot me a straight answer. I read your post about who may be going to crate engines. I have seen other posts on 4m that some are taking a Lm and a crate to the track. Others are talking of doing much the same thing next year.
I know for years some have thought that a racer should be limited to one class on the same night. Now I know that the corporation may make a rule against this practice. I do not think most promoters will.
If a racer is going to a $2000 LM show and the crates are there paying $800-$1000 he would be foolish not to race two cars. As you know many guys could buy a 602 put it in a back up car. I think this is coming and I can see some disgruntled Crate Racers. They want to keep the purses down to avoid this but the purses have risen to attract more cars. Now the crossover will be more attractive for some.
Do you think there will or should be rules to stop this practice or let the chips fall where they may. I can see this being a real issue for some crate racers. I guess I should not put you on the spot like this. Maybe some crate racers will give their thoughts on this.

Thanks (Disclaimer) I am not a advocate of crate engines.

I think that big crate races and big late model races at the same track are few and far between..I also think that we need weekly tracks so those who dont want to travel or cannot afford to travel can stay close at home to race!! Face it there are guys out there that are gonna be good no matter what they drive! But i feel that a series or a track cant put a limitation on racers with past success..Look at the $100,000 to win show at AR.How many super LM racers are in that deal??? I do know this..Crate racing probably will not have a bunch of cherry picking cause the racing is so close. How many fans will that put in the stands some day to see all of your local favorites on the track with the same power plants? If I was not racing I would be up there to watch it but instead I will be in the pits trying to make the show!!!!

Peoria#75Fan, first off.... I know where you stand with the crates & I respect your views & opinions, you have alot of good points. I think keeping the purses down will keep out the "BIG NAMES". You will have the LM guys steping down or possibly running both classes on any givin night but I dont look for the Bloomers or Moyers to go Crate Racin any time soon. Yes some UMP regulars are going to jump in but I think that will only help Crate Racin in general (Gives it more credibility in my opinion).

If I could type faster I would go into my whole spill.....give me time....it's coming! :D Trust me folks....it's coming! WoooooHoooo!

If tracks let guys run two classes, why should this be any different? Seems to me the issue is not double dipping super LM drivers, but tracks allowing drivers to run more than one class a night. That seems to me to be the only issue that needs to be addressed.

Sean2, t.nie, or FERGY, there seems to be alot of movement toward the crates in recent days. Could you give us an idea of who has become a recent "convert"?

Not sure about who has commited to the Fastrak deal, but I know there is alot of crate movement going on in this area. Stay tuned!

i think super late model drivers stepping down will only help crate racing to grow even more, lets face it we all know that ALOT of local guys can drive and be just as fast as the super guys had they had the money and equiptment.everyone wanted it level,a good purse and alot of cars, well that is what you got so enjoy folks, happy to say ill make the change, took me a year to join the bandwagon but i really like the views of fastrack guys.they are here to help racing, not kill it!!

This was posted a few days ago by Kevin. Don't know if you read it or not but thought it might answer a part of your question. There is a lot of interest in Fastrak. Please feel free to call Scott or Kevin Ferguson and talk to them personally. They will be more than happy to answer any and all questions they can. Scott can be reached at 618 889 7629 and Kevin at 618 889 7643. You can also call the office at 618 993 1122.

A few big names would be good for the class. I imagine most of them will keep there big cars too and just run the crates sometimes and when they have special events. Having a few big names there will bring in more fans and in doing so, the other not so big names will get a chance to show what they have. Next season should be interesting.

It ain't that easy though, everything is totally different with half the horse. Frankie Martin has probably been upfront the last number of years as much as anybody and he got lapped at Greenville with the crates. The scary guys are gonna be the ones that are already used to being way underpowered. Like a Kevin Lee who runs with that much or less and alot of times is able to run with guys with twice as much. He said that was his plan for next year.

your dead on with that statement corey,it takes a totally different technique to drive wih 800hp then it does to drive with 450hp.i have driven 730hp monsters and i have driven underpowered cars as well,i think ill make the switch fine, but the guys that havent driven with less power in a few years i dont look for to be to much of a hassle in the beggining, once everyone gets everything lined out,WATCH OUT theres gonna be some great racing, glad ill be apart of it!

I Say Let Them Race!!!

What Is The Difference If They Run A Super Lm Then Get Out And Run A Crate Motor. Or If They Show Up With A Super Lm And A Mod? Is That Double Dipping.

They Are Two Different Cars That Can React Differently To One Another.

Crate Racing Relies On The Driver More Than The Equiptment Right?

You Never Know, There Might Be A Driver Out There W/o $$$ But Can Race And He Might Show Up The Driver With $$$ And No Talent.

Thanks,

Wang!

Now the Frankie Martin deal is a little more involved than just getting lapped. In that First lap of the heat race we tore up the front end, ripped the left rear brake caliper off, and lost power steering. On that type of track most of those items are important, and considering that none of those items were fixable. The feature was not the true results of what Frankie can do in a crate motored car
