Lewis Holzbach Jr.

Lewis A. "Lou" Holzbach Jr., 71, of Coulterville, Ill., born on Dec. 19, 1939, in Richmond, Va., passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, Ill.

Mr. Holzbach was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He married Carol Sue Gilley in Springfield, Ill. Lou was a mechanic at Peabody Coal Riverking Mine for several years then owned/operated Lou's Auto Repair, Belleville, Ill., for 40 years. He raced cars at Highland and Belleville, Ill., in the 70s and 80s and loved deer hunting and fishing but especially loved being a grandpa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis A. and Rosalie, nee Cleery, Holzbach Sr.; a son, Mark Holzbach; a sister, Joyce Marie Bowden; and good friend, Red Miskle.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen J., nee Guetterman, Holzabach of Coulterville, Ill., whom he married on June 30, 1986; three daughters, Debbie (Robert) Horvath of Fairview Heights, Ill., April Agne of Coulterville, Ill., and Dawn Mason of Collinsville, Ill.; and two grandsons, Hayden Agne and Alec Horvath.
