Chattanooga, TN (9/19/08) - - For the past two Crate events at Boyd's Speedway it's been all former Crate Racin' USA (now NeSmith Chevrolet) champion Denny Slayton. Collecting his first win of the season two-weeks ago the # 77 'Downs Transportation, Rogers Performance, Pete Slayton Motorsports' sponsored GRT / Cadillac, 604 GM Performance Parts Rossville, GA, 2005 inaugural Crate series champ raced to his second consecutive 20 lap 'A' Main feature win Friday night. The Kane Underdown backed team took a hard fought victory at the Tennessee/Georgia statelined facility, losing the lead to Knoxville, Tennessee ace (former Southern All-Star racer) Jason McMahan before gaining back control two laps later. 'We're not in any hurry to go travelling again' stated Slayton, a second generation racer. 'We're doing a driver developement program with Corey and he's got the car I started out with this season, while I'm in this new one.' Which is a former Randy Burrows/Dale McDowell GRT chassis.

At the start of the feature heat winner Jason Deal of Copperhille, TN crashed on the initial start ending his and Jeremy Pruitt's night prematurely, which damaged and collected a slew of racecars. With heavy damage Danny Pippen took the opening lap lead, but Slayton drove right past for the lead. McMahan would race by for the lead around the halfway point, only to lose it, in the same fashion as he got it, with Slayton digging under in turn one. James Gamble's return to racing was cut short when he spun and collected the HEAVY HIT of the night by Ron Barnett, whom was piloting his youngest's racecar. Boonie Gullett suffered a right rear flat tire on his mount early and was never a factor in the equation, while the B-MAN Brian Jackson rallied deep in the pack for an almost Top 5 finish. McMahan, Pippen, Randy Dillard and Kenny Stanfield all survived Crate motor inspections by track owners after the race. The team's second racecar, driven by Corey Underdown finished 12th without an on-track incident. Slayton and the team should be back in action this Friday at the Boyd's Speedway, on the undercard to the SRRS Super Late Model $3,000. to-WIN event.
