Here is a link to some 1902 Vanderbilt Cup race footage. The Vanderbilt family put up a purse, and it was an all comers race if I remember right. I bet some other historians would be better able to fill in the details, but I thought this was pretty cool to watch. If you click on the MPEG version, it will run in WMV. The other option is QT, if you have it. This streamed very fast on my cable connection, I dont know how it would do on dial up.
