Fredericktown raceway to stop weekly races

Here is an idea...

Take time to visit the top 3 race tracks in Missouri this summer. Then bring all of the "EXACT SAME" principals back to The Rock for next year. I know that it is easier said then done, but its an idea.

I know it's a long haul, but come on up to NE Misery. We have a few good tracks left open and always like to see new faces. But ya got to make yourself known to us or we dont see ya :D

I have no family or friends racing at the rock. I am from st peters in st charles county. I own property and have many relatives all around this area ( Farmington, Fred., St Gen., Potosi, Doe Run, etc.) My family and I are huge dirt track fans. Spent many years going to the old st charles track, and have been a loyal fan at st francois county for over thirty years. Have just recently started bringing my wife and two small children to fredericktown. Couple of times last year and a couple of times this year.

I have never had my family treated like an outcast at a racetrack like this one. We have come because its close to our property, cheap, and on a friday. My kids like the small atmosphere, but I have no problems seeing why this track has low attendance, and money problems. It seems like the only people in the stands are drivers family. My family is stared at, ignored, and made to feel unwelcome. At other tracks my kids play with others they have never met, we have conversations in the stands with other fans, and are very welcomed by the concession stand and track workers.

Evan in this forum it seems like the only people who talk about the rock are the drivers and family.

I love the location, size, and friday races at this track, but maybe there should be some improvements on welcoming new fans, and making pure dirt track fans feel good about attending.

As far as ther track being shut down... It really does 5uck and there can be several different reasons, but teh point is, you no longer have "that" tracks to run if it was your only place to go, you now have a car sittin gathering dust, and will have extra money to spend on other things like your home, family, etc... Our tracks closed also, but not so much as bad management. Of course this is what everyone thinks first, you would of, could of, should of done this. Now how the hell do you know? Are you the promoter? Do you have an idea of how to keep a track open? Do you have people skills and willing to go that extra mile to make one driver happy, only to make another mad? Well, if you can answer ALL of these, and about 100 or so more from EVERY DRIVER that visits that track, then maybe you should help get it back open like I am doing our track. There is no need to come on here and tell what should have happened like I said... HELP KEEP A TRACK OPEN!!! But since that didn't happen.... HELP GET THIS TRACK OPEN!!!!

But that's just my $0.02

Season over

Due to staffing issues, Fredericktown Raceway will end regular season racing as of 8/30/07. Thanks to all drivers and fans that helped make our season. Keep posted for further info on drivers awards presentation. We will continue to improve the facility and be ready for a full 2008 season.

Ok, had anyone else seen this??? I happened upon it deep within another forum in the middle of nowhere!!! Staffing issues????? Could someone explain this to me please???? Is this because Crystal took a night off and now they had to close the track???? If that is so, then Crystal...you should really be ashamed!!!!:p I'm so confused as to what in the heck is going on at this track!?!?!?!?!? SOMEBODY PLEASE EXPLAIN...AND I MEAN TRUTHFULLY!!!! And I don't really think you should be pouring any more money into improving a facility if you are not going to worry about getting more drivers and more fans. I doesn't matter how great a track it is if you won't talk to nor listen to your drivers and fans!!! Please...Anne and Curly...find a new manager and promoter.........you may not want to hear this, BUT GET TERRY BACK!!!!!! He may not have been loved by all, but at least he would take time to listen and gave a damn about the track and making it work!!!!!

You should read the dates before posting, that was a post from last year! Before Crystal took the night off, or I was track manager so why do we keep geting the blame from everyone on here for causing the tracks problem? As for you saying that I do not take time to listen I have always announced at the drivers meeting or any other time if there are any questions or ideas to talk to me and people have and we have implemented several of the drivers and fans ideas just from them talking to me and other track personnel so once again you have no idea what you are talking about. AL

Al, I apologize for the misunderstanding as far as the "staffing issues" post is concerned. I was so blinded by anger that I obviously missed the dates. As for not knowing what I am talking about.......there once was a story about a pot calling a kettle black. Maybe you should read it. You want to yell at me about something, go for it. It does not change the fact that the track has been run into the ground. And that is not my opinion. That is a proven fact. In fact, you are the one who posted it. So take your anger out on me if you feel it will help, but I'm pretty sure that's not gonna do the trick. But then, I'm the one who doesn't know what I'm talking about...

Well it is time for me to make my post-----When Denny Keith had the track I supported, gave equiptment, money, drove my race car and helped out with my equiptment(haulers-wrecker-truck etc)and sponsored many cars. With the new owners I have had my race car there and some I sponsor--while there are some I sponsor that simply refuse to go back because of the officiating and management.I think I can and will give a very truthful post to all!---2 weeks ago myself and my car builder pulled in the parking lot about 9pm--sitting in the truck the track PR person came and spoke to us,telling us how great the (5)late models were and how she loved the class--lalalalalalal--my response--oh boy---5 cars for a feature race???why dont ya'll race the A-mods----------------
Within 5 minutes here came curley in the parking lot-asking DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CLASSES I RACE HERE???Needless to say the yelling started from him and it went to hell from there.HIS QUOTE--I wont race the damn A-mods here, after myself and others trying to explain to him to support the LOCAL racers and classes. They are the ones who support the track ,with people in the pits and in the stands.
The rag tag PR person is something else.Maybe she should go find her a horse-or-cowboy-to ride with her RED cowboy boots.
Curley--You need to have someone manage the track like Arlin Keith or TERRY FLANAGAN.When he ran the track there were a minimum of 65 cars a nite. One good night there were 103 cars there-Does this bring back memories? The track owner and manager cuss everyone who posts anything on here and have bitter fellings for them.
This post is not to belittle any one person-just the facts!!!!!!!

The answer for the Rock is......

The Rock should change racing to Sundays. Start early, race all classes that show 10 cars. The track at the Rock is second to none, but trying to compete with well established tracks on their regular race nights is always going to be a long row to hoe.
Maybe it's time for something new?
Maybe the drivers might have some input on racing on Sunday???

Greenville,IL ran on sundays for a long time. it worked out great for them untill the town started raising hell from churches.... very good idea

Sunday racing has been something that has been tossed around at Fredericktown for several years. Jeff spoke to many of the drivers and for the most part, most of them said that they could not afford to race 3 days a week and also many expressed not wanting to be away from their familes that many race days. Many felt Sunday was a family day and some people attend church. Just something i heard Jeff talk about . LD
