Fun at MCS!

It wasn't just him, but dave thompson too. it is because they are fast and experienced so they said to give the other less experienced drivers a chance they would from now on start in the back. i personally think it's wrong and so does the pack.

This is not to start ANY trouble, it is merely the facts of how the meeting went!

Mel said that night that since Thompson had 3 feature wins that HE would be starting in the back (just like any other driver that wins 3 features) during the feature instead of hanging any weight on his car. Thompson then made a comment to Mel about Wolf being there and how it wasn't fair to make him start in the back. After several comments being made back and forth between Thompson and Mel. Mel said fine then Wolf can start in the back with you. So Wolf never got brought into the conversation until Thompson said something about him.

I'm not siding with any one particular person of the 3 involved.

"COMPETITION CLAUSE

At the discretion of track management, weight can be added to vehicles."

That is from the 2007 MCS ministock rules. If my memory is correct Mel stated that he wanted a competition clause in the rules stating that he could add weight to any car he thought was dominating the field. There were no amount of wins or criteria, just if he thought a certain car was dominating. Dave ran three races and won all three by at lease a straightaway. That is dominating the field.

I remember Dave not liking the fact that weight was going to be added because it would mess up his balance badly and be very unfair. I don't know the specifics but I guess Mel wanted to exercise the competition clause but not to the extreme he could so he decided to start Dave T in the back. I don't know why Wolf had to but it looked like the right call because didn't they finish 1, 2.

The rule help the competition as stated. It made closer racing and a better show for the fans even though Dave still won the race he had to work a little harder. If he would have had weight on his car he may not have won or even wrecked his car.

In the end there is good competition at MCS in the ministock division. In every race except the three Dave T won the second place car was only one or two car lengths behind the winner. I am sure Mel would like to exercise a competition clause in the other classes but they are regulated by sanctioning bodies so he can not.

I don't know what is going on with the pay but even when the car count is up the pay is the same which does not make any since. Mel stated in a meeting that he wants to pay the purse out of the pit passes. I don't think a week goes by that the ministocks don't pay in more than they get back so where is the extra money going?

Even though i dont race a mini stock anymore

Last year Mel had made the comment about adding weight to any car that dominated the feild. That came about due to Wolf and Wes 2 years ago being consitent winners every week. 2 years ago, Mel put a bouty on Wolf's head a couple of times after 3 feature wins, and I think once with Wes. Last year even though there were a couple of drivers with multiple feature wins, there was several feature winners through the year. Mel had talked about adding weight half way through the year last year but never did it. Winning 3 features in a row, with only 3 nights of racing, and winning by a straightaway, Mel figured it was time to due something interesting, he had talked about for over a year, and finally held to his word. Starting at the back with as fast as a car as some have was the "punishment", then bring it, it really shows the car and set up and driver skill. Also puts on a good show coming from the back of hte pack. It would be just like having a bad heat run, no differance. As far as Wolf having to start at the back with Dave T, there is only 1 person to blame for that. It could have been worse, Mel could have thrown the weight on the car and really messed it up. I dont agree or disagree with it, but we all knew it was coming. As far as the pay out, I have heard that it was less then desireable.

I did hear about the weight being added, but I would have to object. There is no way any driver should do that without having the proper placement; it definitely effects the handling. As far as the meeting where they stuck Wolf and Thompson in the back I was there. I am the Wolf's shadow, inseparable; so yes I know what was said. The Wolf isn't complaining it is me just making a statement. Not to cause conflict or confusion.

The statement was made at CJs garage on Thursday nite after I scaled his car. The exact statement that came out of my mouth was " Wolf won't come to Doe Run because HE thinks we will black flag him for no reason." Just to prove he has the same opportunity as anyone else, tell Wolf to come to DRR and race this Friday and if he gets black flagged for something that is not deserving of one I will personnally refund his pit pass and anyone that is in the pit with Dave. Myself and some of the drivers want him to come out and race because Dave is a very competitive racer. Dave you are always WELCOME at Doe Run Raceway.......... Kenny
