If you bring your kids to Belle-Clair Speedway on Friday nights please READ CAREFULLY and you can help them win a $10 Toys R Us gift card from Haffer Brothers racing!

For your child to have a chance to win, they must complete the 3 tasks listed below this Friday night May 15th at BelleClair Speedway!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) They must draw and color a picture of our #37 pure stock race car. (photos can be found on TriCitySpeedway.net, BelleClairSpeedway.com, or here at stlracing.com)

2) They must bring 1 recent homework paper in which they got an "A" on and show it to ME PERSONALLY AFTER the races!

3) They must show me their protective ear wear that they wear to keep the noise from damaging their ears. (after the races)

SAFETY FIRST! We think it's a very smart idea to make sure your child's ears are protected from the loud noise of the race cars at every track they attend, especially at Belleville because of the large roof that echos and magnifies all loud engines.

DID YOU KNOW? The decimal levels of race cars are equal to that of a 747 airplane flying directly over your heads, and can severely injure or rupture a child's ear drums in a matter of seconds!

How do we know? I had a young cousin once who attended the races for the very first time and her mom couldn't figure out why she kept complaining of her ears hurting. She was not wearing any protection on her ears. Just days later her ears started bleeding and she immediately took her to the Emergency Room to find out that her ear drum had ruptured from severe decimal levels! Young children are still developing and their ear drums are very suseptible to damage from loud noises, which also include loud music. So please pick up some ear plugs ($1.50 at the race track) and make sure your child gets used to wearing them during the races! Thanks very much for helping to keep your kids safe and for helping them become smart race fans!!!

HOW THE WINNER WILL BE CHOSEN:

ALL KIDS WHO COMPLETE THESE 3 TASKS WILL RECEIVE SOME FREE CANDY IN OUR PITS AND WE WILL PUT THEIR NAMES IN A BUCKET AND DRAW 1 LUCKY NAME OUT!!! The winner will be announced on Friday May 22nd and they can pick up their gift card from me personally at intermission or after the races!

REMEMBER THEY MUST BE PRESENT BOTH NIGHTS, MAY 15TH AND 22ND, TO HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN, OR WE WILL DRAW ANOTHER NAME!!! So please bring the kids to Belle-Clair Speedway, and cheer for the #37 pure stock with Mr. Incredible on the hood and teach your child how much fun the races can be!!!

this is really nice and thoughtful of you to do this and i am not writing to start any thing or bash anyone for trying to do good but i have a very strong opinion about this post;i strongly dissagree with the ear thing, i have a five year old that has been coming to the races scince he was about three months old and we started off wearing ear protection but after a few months that was the end of that, he did not want anything to do with them. after his second b-day he had to have tubes put in his ears along with a couple other procedures done. i was so worried that because i did not make him wear his ear plugs at the races that he had to undergo a painful surgery. so the first thing i asked my pediatrition was if was the races and no ear protection is what caused this, his answer was most likely not kids tend to build up a tolerance to things like that.and now i have a 7 month old daughter and have yet to use ear protection andeverything is doing good. if you ask around there are just as many or more kids with ear problems that dont go to the races than that do go. this is not comming from just a hard headed mother but a nursing student also.so i pesonaly think this is a matter of opinion and your docs advice.

I can appreciate that not everyone has to agree or wear ear plugs. Of all of my kids only 2 will wear the plugs and the other one like the ear muff protectors. It is hard to get them used to wearing them but now they know the rules and they are used to them. The older the child is the better they can tolerate the noise but I've seen some bring babies to the races with no protection and I think that is just asking for trouble. Though kids are able to tolerate it as they get older, it has been proven that loud noises cause hearing loss in children. Maybe it explains why sometimes we have to yell at our kids to get their attention? haha. Though I can respect a difference of opinion, this is something I firmly believe in because I have seen the damages noise can do to children. Picture leaving your child at the airport for 3 or 4 hours while the planes take off and land next to them. Thought that sounds crazy, it's the same comparison as far as decimal levels.

Here is a research web site dedicated to informing children and adults about the dangers of hearing loss and how prolonged exposure will damage their ears and hearing ability. Ask any EAR doctor and they will tell you the same, whether you wear foam ear plugs or the ear muff type, protecting kids from loud noises greatly reduces the risk of hearing loss when they are older.

good point, i do see what you what you are talking about with the airport, and boy do i know what you are talking about having to yell to get your childs attention lol. i guess it is just a matter of opinion.i am strong believer on doing what you think is right not what everyone else thinks is rightand i think its great you are supporting what you believe

If you know someone who has kids and usually attends Belle Clair Speedway, please pass this on to them!! Thanks.

Thanks to Linda Schaefer and others!

Thanks very much to Linda Schaefer for donating some ear plugs for us to give out on Friday night.

We are merely trying to raise awareness of protecting children's ears and trying to make the races more fun and interactive for the children who attend. I know from my experience with my 3 children that the first time they went they were scarred to death because of the noise. Once they got used to wearing something on their ears at the races, they realized they could attend the races and enjoy it instead of holding their ears in pain all night. The youngest children are easily turned off by the noise and it's likely they will never like going unless they are taught there are things you can do to make it more enjoyable for them.

UPDATE: WE WILL PASS OUT SOME PICTURES OF OUR CAR TO COLOR FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE THE INTERNET AND HAVE NOT SEEN OUR CAR BEFORE. IF YOU KNOW ANY CHILDREN WHO GO TO THE RACES BUT DO NOT HAVE THE INTERNET PLEASE LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THIS FUN CHALLENGE WE ARE DOING FOR THE KIDS AT BELLE CLAIR SPEEDWAY!!!

Thanks for all who have offered to help us and make this a fun project for the kids!!

For all junior fan club members who sign up and attend the races at Belle Clair Speedway. I think that is 12 and under. Hope to meet a bunch of kids, have some fun, and create awareness to them to always protect their hearing.

Hopefully the rain will stay away so we can do this Friday night! Hope to see the little ones venturing into the pits after the races.
