MADISON, Ill. - Gateway International Raceway is hosting the NHRA
Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series this weekend, Friday through Sunday, on its
quarter-mile dragstrip. The event includes 280-mph injected
nitro-burning dragsters, top-alcohol dragsters, and top-alcohol funny cars, as well
as wheelstanding super stockers, 200 mph top sportsman and top
dragster machines and every other NHRA sportsman division. Over 500 enteries
filled the pits at GIR for this event last year and it looks like over
600 will make it in 2007.

Admission for the events are very affordable, with Friday's ticket
only $10 and tickets for either Saturday or Sunday are only $20. Children
under 12 are free and there's no extra charge for a pit pass.

Fans are also invited to meet NHRA LODRS Top Alcohol Funny Car racer
Marty Nothstein Thursday night at the Texas Roadhouse in Kirkwood off
Hwy. 44. Nothstein will sign autographs and Gateway Guy and members of
the Gateway Pit Crew will be onhand for giveaways.
