Gateway International Raceway Celebrated Their First NHRA Division 3 Team Championship with a Flag Raising Ceremony

Madison, IL - Team Gateway, the 2005 Division 3 Team Champions, celebrated their accomplishment with a team championship flag raising ceremony. The team championship flag was presented to Team Gateway and raised at BracketBash, Gateway's last drag racing event of the season.
Earlier in the year, Team Gateway won the coveted team championship, topping the 19 other NHRA Division 3 member tracks that competed in the event. The team championship was the first for the Madison, IL track.
The team was led by David Gamber (Fenton, MO), who won the Division 3 Sportsman Championship. Gamber, a Gateway weekly racing series regular, who finished seventh in the Street E.T. class, will represent Gateway and Division 3 at the Summit Racing Series National Finals at Pomona Raceway in Pomona, California.
Gateway's Jr. Team also had an convincing showing just one week after their impressive run at the Jr. Divisionals in Terre Haute. Team Gateway once again dominated the 8-9 year old division, as Chris Lidy (Dietrich, IL) won the Race of Champions over 2005 Division 3 Champion Kelsey Beimfohr (Edwardsville, IL), both members of Team Gateway. Another Gateway regular Jennifer "Jo" Costello (Carlinville, Ill) won the 10-13 year old Race of Champions, although she was competing for rival Mid-State Dragstrip. Gateway's Junior team accumulated the second-most points for the event.
Team Gateway member Dave Demsko (St. Louis, MO) took home the honor of having the Sportsman BE COOL Radiators Coolest Car of the Event, while Team Gateway member James Bouckaert (Arnold, MO) won the Sportsman Dialing for Dollars Award when he ran 13.160 dead-on.
