German girls at the races tonight in Belleville

I will be bringing Waterloo's Sister Cities of PortaLoo's two German exchange students to the races tonight in Waterloo -- 2 girls, both 17 years old.

Katharina Schaefers and Susanna Scheibe are here from Porta Westfalica (Waterloo's sister city) and Minden, Germany. They arrived in Waterloo on June 27 and will leave to go back home to Germany on July 25. They have been staying with 5 different Waterloo host families.

TTG, get your "Deutsch" dusted off because I will be bringing them down to the infield at Intermission to talk with you. :D

That's so cool, what a great experience for them. It's a great opportunity for them with this program and the benefits that come with it. I hope they enjoy the races, I am sure they will be in complete awhh...the entire night! :D

Hey Debbie bring them by Bobecks (sp ) tomarrow.. I will be there from 9:00 till about 4:00. Doing a fun raiser for gymnastics- come by and buy some 50-50 tickets :D :D

No, the girls stay with host families in Waterloo. Susanna has 2 host families and Katharina has 3 host families for their 4 week stay. Jimmy met them for the first time at the races in the pits when I took them to the car. He was very well-behaved, and even posed for pictures with them. I was very proud of him! :D

I want to say thank you to Stan Schanter of Belle-Clair Speedway for the pit passes for the girls. He has always supported our Sister Cities activities over the years, and for that I am most appreciative! Thanks Stan!

Thanks to TTG for the interview of the girls; I think it was the highlight of their night, right up there with meeting Jimmy. Of course, I didn't get the chance to introduce them to Dean Hoffman, so they really didn't have anything spectacular to compare it with.

I think they enjoyed their first ever evening at the races, but they thought the weather was "too hot and muggy" for them. I have to agree.
