Giesler Snaps Smith's Winning Streak at 4

FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- (June 4, 2004) Billy "The Kid" Smith carried a four-feature winning streak into Friday night's Modified finale at the Fredericktown Raceway, but he also carried a $100 bounty on his head. Joe Giesler of St. Mary not only collected the bounty, he and Smith provided one of the best races of the season with the winning margin of victory being just a matter of a few feet. Smith settled for second place with Kenny Kennedy third, Brent Thompson fourth and Eric Mabery fifth. They were followed by Mike Francis, Tommy Worley Sr., John Bohn, Brad Long and Leo Kiefer.
Gielser won the first heat with Rich Whaley second and Mabery third. Kennedy won the second heat with Thompson second and Long third. Seventeen-year-old Kasey Burch won the third heat with Smith second and Francis third. Kiefer won the fourth heat with Mike Crader second and Doug Brewster third. Giesler won the trophy dash with Kennedy second and Whaley third. Bohn won the "B" main with Glenn Miller second and Bryan King third.
In the Sportsmen feature, Chuck Adams of Piedmont was the winner as he made the pass of Nathan Gibson early in the feature and then held on for the victory. Greg Stumbaugh captured second place with Gibson third, Matt Eaton fourth and Doug Savage fifth. They were followed by Steve Maisel, Mark Howell, Dustin Homan, Kenny Harris and Kyle Stolzer.
Homan won the first heat with Chris Boyd second and Stumbaugh third. Gibson won the second heat with Adams second and Eaton third. Gibson won the trophy dash with Adams second and Boyd third.
In the Pure Street class, Chris Boyd drove the #43 to victory lane in the feature with Chris Webb second, Lenny Terrell third, Josh DeSpain fourth and Cline Myer fifth (Myer was later disqualified for illegal equipment). They were followed by Kevin Dodd, Bill Skaggs, Derek DeSpain, Wayne Frymire and Terry Wyatt. Myer won the first heat with Terrell second and Derek Shipman third. Boyd won the second heat with Ray Dodd second and Josh DeSpain third. Myer won the trophy dash with Boyd second and Ray Dodd third.
Dave "The Wolf" Wofford won the RAMS Mini Stock feature by edging out 15-year-old Jon Paul Reando at the wire. Steve Spencer captured third with Shannon Burch fourth and Brian Cox fifth. They were followed by Josh Harris, Rick Ruch, Joe Ketcherside and Jimmy Todd. Wofford won the trophy dash with Reando second and Burch third. Reando won the heat race with Wofford second and Spencer third.
In the Dwarf Car class, Charlie Savage of Annapolis was the feature winner with Todd Williams second, Dom Wadlow third, Jim Daley fourth and Eric Stone fifth. Savage won the heat race with Wadlow second and Williams third. Williams won the trophy dash with Savage second and Wadlow third.
