Giving promoters a "pat on the back"

People please support me on this one.... LOL... I've pushed for years and years for SFCR to go to the grandstand admission of $10 for adults and kids age 12 & under being admitted free and this year Cory and Jill came through. What's funny was I had given up on pushing the idea and when I was talking with Jill about the changes they wanted in the website she told me they were making the change... LOL... I think the reason they didn't do it in the past was they were afraid people would just drive up and drop their kids off at the gate so they would have a free babysitter for the night. However I think this will allow the racer and his family a chance to watch and enjoy the races without going broke. You know they are going to eat. This is just one of those moves I think will help put more fans back in the stands and make the track more "family friendly." Even though I'm a little older than 12, again I wanted to tell Cory and Jill - "Way to go."

Just my opinion,
Millsey

blonde question

ok well i dont ever go to the grandstands its been years since i have went up there. whats the prices normally run? or what did they run there last year? i think its a good idea most tracks do that so i am glad to see that SFCR has done that too!

Way To Go!!!!

:D Corey & Jill,
As a wife of a racer and also a mom of two kids, I want to personally say THANK YOU! I think it was a smart move to let kids in free. That helps me out alot and gives me more money to spend elsewhere such as concessions or souveniers for my kids. They especially like the pictures of the drivers. I am also pleased to find that you are having a kids club. My kids asked about that last year. It helps get them involved. All of this just makes me more excited to see the season start. Keep up the good work and again THANK YOU!

Great For All Families!!!!!!!!!

:D Thanks a lot to Cory and Jill !! This will help out a lot of families and race-fans. Save me some, so I can speed it at the Stands!!! Laffinnnn! This was a great move and think that racing all the classes is awesome! From what I'm hearing there's going to be a lot of pure-street cars. Really like them and they put on a good show. Good Luck To All "2005" season. See you when the" Dirt Flies":D

Great Move

Cory and Jill have really done a terrific job at running SFCR ! And by doing this, they are helping ALOT of people to now be able to attend the track. Thank you both for making this a step in the direction of a " family night out " LD

Hey Yvonne, did you see the pictures of big Lou in the picture section, especially the one of him beside his car.??

Good Job

I'd like to thank Cory and Jill for a job "WELL DONE" for thier first year as promoters and hope the 2005 season goes just as well.

I think your decision about admission prices will keep our fan base strong at SFCR and I want to wish all fellow racers and fans a great upcoming racing season.

If we ALL work together,we can keep SFCR a great place to race.

I think giving free grandstand admission to kids 12 and under is a great idea.
Now they can take it a step further and ban everyone 12 and under from the pits unless they are a driver or WORKING crew member. Just think how far $25.00 will go in the concessions stands. Plus it would make the pits a great deal safer.

I remember "sneaking" into the pits when I was 14 or 15, because you had to be 16 to get in. That was back when they stapled your pit-pass on your sleeve after folding it in half.

Anyhow, the problem with what you said is when you have out-of-towners, who race, and have children who don't need to be sitting by themselves in the stands. I will agree that it is a safety concern, but that should be discussed with the adults who bring them in. Everyone should be helping watch out for their safety and the promoter or pit stewarts should be keeping the adults responsible for their kids.

Jill and Cory are to be commended for this.......My family wouldn't have slacked off from going so much, had they done this a long time ago. I always heard about them losing the crowds a little at a time and instead of keeping the prices the same or lowering them-they usually increased due to the smaller crowd.....We always said that if they would back up 3-4 years on admission prices(would have been 8 bucks at the time of discusion, rather than 12 I believe), the crowd would increase again. I think the under 12 free is just awesome, I'll be taking all my "kids" now......someone needs to teach them that dirt is for racing;)

Sprintfanatic, I understand that we all have our opinions, but look at it this way I work on a sprint car and have a 6yr old little boy who loves sprint car racing just as much if not more than me. Now if you were a 6 yr old and your dad said son you can't go to the races with me because because you aren't 12 yet how would you feel especially when he has been going with me and around the cars for a couple years like he has been. So please don't push this issue because we as parents know it's dangerous in there but we also have kids that love racing and want them to be as close to it as possible it is a very positve thing for the kids to do if they grow up at the race track then maybe when they are older they might still enjoy them and be there on saturday night instead of running around to parties and stuff.

Unless insurance companies push the issue, isn't it difficult establishing an arbitrary age to draw the line? We've all seen mature 10 year olds that would likely be better equipped to stay safe in the pits than some immature 15 year olds.

H-ll, Jeff Gordon raced sprinters at 13.

This seems a good way to ensure families can come to the races. I'm for anything that either: a) gets families to do things together, or b) puts more buts in the seats at races. This is a win-win since it does both. Thumbs-up!

We as parents need to get our kids to the race track and involved some how in racing at a young age so when they're teenagers they won't be thinking about doing stupid things out in the streets and in our neighborhoods. When your kids are older they will thank you for getting them involved so early in life.
