Godfrey Drivers Whos Been Racing The Longest?

Here are some more questions for you...

1. Can anyone tell who watered the track the longest?

2. Who took out the wood wall in turns 1 and 2 turn?

3. Who went over the wall on the backstraight and took out the lady's bathroom wall?

4. Who drove over the wall and drove into Clayton Landon's new water truck?

5. Who celebrated their wedding anniversary every year at the track by riding around it together in a race car? (I know its July but I can't remember the year they were married there)

I think John Seets has to have the most wins total at the track... and i think its closer to 30 yrs of racing there.

Lots of great names that i remember from when i was a kid.

Yes, that's one thing Wib did give the lady's, was Powder Puff. I got to drive once back in 82'.
Yes the answer to #5 is Marty Kopp BUT you forgot his better half Carla...:D

Momma Drew

Denny Bell has been there for a long time, but I am not counting years when the driver was only there a handful of times at best.

The pomoters would bring in intermission entertainment to WOW the crowds.
I remember Wib Spaulding brought in a guy who blew himself with EXPLOSIVES.. OUCH..But

Who was the guy that drove through a wall made up of a couple 1000 pounds worth of ice blocks...in a CONVERTIBLE..?

I remember that guy when i was a kid lmao! I had forgotten all about him, thanks for bringing back that memory.

I never did understand the thought process for someone trying that for the first time. I just remember my dad commenting on how nuts that guy was and for me and my brothers to "dont get any bright ideas" :D

#1 pat drews uncle ..Mr drew

#2 it was either clay landon or wib Spaulding i think Wib

#3 I say rick rhodes, some one else said dave Walker

#4 ????????? maybe some one out of control

he was a tall skinny guy and was a promoter at the track at one time, the other guy was a demolitin expert, he blew himself up with dynomite. he was itailian and my memory is like pats it gone right now.

And another person we forgot about how about gary breyer(SP) who owned the gremlin that raced at the track. and did some announcing too.

Lets see the flagmen that I remember there are ...."fats" Booten, who taught me to flag,Chuck nelson,Bill lafferty, Marty Sanszotzer, Dave "Hoot" Gibson,Johnny Johnson, Dave Wulf, and of course we can't forget the current one OLE Whats his name , LOL just kidding its Rolla, and if you want to know what official has been there the longest, continually, it would have to be dave Wulf he started with Clay landon and ended with the current owners, 23 straight years, Quite an accomplishment, seen second and third generation racers, there amazing, lots of memories gone but not forgotten.
Lets hope we can race the stories after will be worth the race the bon fire better not go out till morning, and bring a lot of beer LOL

Dave Wulf

gary's car was a pacer driven by Jim Emery (Wib Spaulding's brother in law)

John Griffin drove #70 in sportsman, then #72, then #78 for Warren & Dave Eaker in semi-late models then late models.

also Doug , momma drew, & jumpinjack1dw you guys have brought back a lot of memories just by mentioning names

Well Dave you got #1 right it was Bill Drew. He watered the track for almost 35 years.
#2 and 3 are wrong, keep guessing.
And #4 This person would probably say the water truck was at the wrong place at the right time.:D It took Joe Waters quite a while to it straighten out for Clayton.
