And also Lou Janssen drove #89 for Leroy Goessmen

I was just thinking of some other guys or or family's that have been racing there for years.I know that Mike Bryant,Scott Bryant, both drove for there dad Bob who had many other drivers that drove for him over the years. What about the Patton's Carl,Billy,Donnie, and Darin.

The answer to number 3 is Right..It was Ronnie Lewis that ran into the ladys bathroom wall.
Sorry but, try again on the other ones.

#'s 2 and 4 haven't been answered yet and neither has the one about the driver of the ice shattering convertible...:D

Landon started the track back up in about 1974.

I would assume someone named Seets has raced there ever since then. Which would be 32 years.

I personally believe the Seets family (including Carl Irwin, a half brother) plus all of the sisters kids (which I never seem to remember which racers belong to the girls) has probably got to be the racing family with the largest number of racers (maybe anywhere in the country). I'd love to see a photo of all of them lined up with their race cars and photos of their earlier race cars!

If you're talking about who has raced there over the most years that is STILL racing at the track...........Bob Stanton would probably get the nod because he raced there before Landon had the track.

Has any family had 4 generations that raced there? I would assume 3 generations would be about the limit.

A few of the unique events held at Godfrey included the circus, rodeos, powder puff races, demo derbies, mechanics races, donkey softball, bicycles races for the kids, charity races for the United Cerebral Palsy organization, and one-on-one street car racing.

The track would have been 56 years old this summer.......although it was not in continuous operation.

A toast to all those who made Godfrey Speedway what it was and for crafting all of the memories we'll all hold dear.

Thanks Eileen. You shook Pat"s memory...:) he remembered the story of Carl Irwin flying out of his car on the back straightaway when his car flipped and landed on the track, and Spook Cunningham ran his car into the backwall to keep the other drivers behind him from running over Carl.

the wall was taken out by barry and sid when they improved the track, the water truck was taken out by bud pursley or larry walters. or was the clue included ?? and lets not forget the guy who raced a super modified that brought it to the track in a dump truck, also was laped the most and still made money,, clue.... His first name was sam

No Dave the wall in turns one and two was taken out by a driver way before Barry and Sid bought the track. Here is a hint though, HE was a past track promoter !!! That will narrow the guessing field.!!! Barry and Sid removed the wooden wall on the back stretch when the track was widened.
Wrong, again on the water truck. No, Joe didn't do it he just put it back together..!
Here's a memory for ya,:) Remember Ole' Bud Pursley would never get out of the race car without his cowboy hat ON ...:) I never could figure out how he raced with it in the car...

I remember Dave Walker climbing the turn 2 mound..almost taking the potty rooms out(that was a thrill..coming out of the dude's room and seeing cars wisking just under you). Racing there will sadly be missed

the guy with the block of ice his name was...Mr Atwood,(memory bad don't remember his first name) and it must have been Bob Stanton, or george Carroll, Wib Spaulding, larry walters or a ghost from the past that took out the wall

Jumpinjack,
It was Bob Stanton that took out the wall, it was never put back up until the metal guardrails were put in place much later ...:)

Don Atwood is the one who drove through the wall of ice !.....

But, WHO took out the water truck?.....:D
