Under Engines, Trans., And Rearends; Line 5, About The Rocker Arms, If You Have Aftermarket Heads, What Ratio Can You Run???

1.5 ratio no matter what......Lowery's had 1.6's last year and were found illegal and supposedly they found a loop hole to get out of it but i think they said after that no matter what 1.5.

If you're going to allow aftermarket heads there is no need to tech anthing in the valvetrain other than roller cam and lifters. Unless there is a maximum valve lift rule. Is there one? I dont know. Just something else to have to check if there is one. If you only allow flat tappets that alone will keep the lift down.

Hey Smalldirt. There was no loophole so to speak.1.6 rockers came on some corvetes, and they are oem.The lowerys just did there homework, and thats why they werent illegal.

Someone better check for you chevy guys cause I thought it was like smalldirt said and they kept the points(cause they came on something oem) but had to change them after that to the other ratio anyway. There was a post on here about it I think.

railrocket.....

Yeah exactly a loop hole is what they found. Yeah you said they did there homework and got away with it. Now isn't that considered a loop hole????????????? Yeah i think it is. Wasn't trying to be a smart ***** by saying that but they had to go to 1.5 rockers didn't they? Yep.....Just trying to answer a simple question for someone wanting to know. Good day.

It just said in the rules oem (original equipment as manufactured). It didnt say 1.6 or 1.5.Those rockers are oem .Whats the difference Didnt you run 6 inch rods in your engine Tom.No chevy had 6 inch rods. They had some 5.92 inch i believe, but not plain 6 inch aftermarket rods, and in your post , with your engine, you said your engine had knife edged crank.Thats not stock appearing, so isnt that illegal?.I think you are procrastinating. The rules say stock weight stock appearing crank.Yours isnt.

Hey railrocket what are you trying to accomplish? Everyone will drag out the rules to the fine line given the chance. And that is what they did. Nothing wrong with it till you get caught with it. And yes my motor did have 6 inch rods. Which when you ask Allied if they are legal before they go in the motor then it is ok. And apparently you have never looked at a stock GM crank because them also have a knife edge to them. The crank i ran was up in question at the beginning of last year so we had quite a few members of allied check out the crank to make sure it was legal before we put it in the motor. One of the people was Mark Schaffer too. Another engine builder. Not mine and he is a big part of the board and he was one that gave the ok to it. And if you would have read correctly i had said at one time that the crank was not a full blown knife edge. In fact i think it said a slight knife edge. So don't try saying i was cheating at anytime because i will gaurentee to you that i am one of the very few that aren't pushing the limits. I would rather go out there and have fun racing and beat people knowing that i am 110% legal. So what ever has ruffled you feathers chill out. If i would have know that you would have responded and made a big deal about the "loop hole" i would never have put anything on this topic. So thank you and have a great day.

rail rocket.most limited late models state no roller cams,i couldnt count on both hands how many guys are running roller cams, you would be surprised how many poeple are pushing the limits in every class.

hey Tommy...you and I both brother! I had to try to bribe Ralph to stick around my car longer after I won a feature last year just so people thought I might be cheating or close to illegal. I told Ralph it was embarrasing for me to have him check me out in 5 mins when others seem to take forever to pass. LOL

Mike
