Have you seen a 3 lane, tacky track all night lately?

J/SMOOTH-PR

Bring it on Braun!!!!!!!!
If you haven't seen one, you weren't at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday night for Don and Bonnie Hammer's first night as the new track owners! 3 lane and so tacky they were packing it down during intermission instead of putting water on! It was an awesome night of racing and without the need for track prep, they had an intermission and two semi's after starting at 6:30! The most awesome part was, we were on our way home at 9:20!

They are racing...............

Sportsman (Fairbury, Farmer type rules), Modifieds, Street Socks and hornets! They had about 75 cars and an awesome track all night!

Real race cars have fenders, but....

we were kind of enjoying them too! the only problem I see with that is 15 to 20 cars wont pay the purse they expect to get paid. If you lower it, you get 10-12, and then you still lose money! So if you know another 10 who would guarantee being there and actually put their money where their mouth is, I think Hammer would probably look at anything!

the track was definetely fast. what a great night of racing. i think the hammers done a great job for the first night. the street feature was worth the price of admission. see ya next sat. buddy

as far as the sprints go, man thats a tough one. the bottom line is you cant lose money every night promoting races. in central il it is hard to have anytype of open wheel show thats going to make money or even break even. too many lates and mod fans, the fans really dont like the open wheel cars.

I agree kind of.......

You know I am not an open wheel fan, but watching Wyzard get her first win after seeing her in a mini sprint years ago at Macon, well, it was awesome! I have also seen alot of sprint fans there, but I think you would need 30 cars a night to make it work! The street feature left alot to be desired for me! The bent spindle, tie rod ends and ball joint with 3" of tow out after the first lap made it almost impossible to be fast, but he still got the lead again fair and square again! I am glad Jeremy didnt do anything stupid during or after the race, cuz he has a ton of fans, mostly lil kids in those stands! That was the key, we dont want to be known for racing like that and if you win, you win the right way, no bumping anyone! But I am sure the fans loved it and that is what we need, get the fans back!

you keep talking garbage about winning like that, well you seen the car at farmer city the night before with a different driver and a top of the line driver also having pushing problems in the turns,so whats the big deal, i think he did a spectacular job of handling the car the rest of the race, he could of took 01 out at any time but he doesnt race like that, and all this broken ball joint ,tow end out by 3 inches,it sure looked like that damage could of been done when he hit 44g,there is no mention of 2 weeks prior at linbcoln when the 01 took out 31 and broke his gear, did his family stand in the pit bleacher shouting profanity making a complete *** of themselves? NO they didnt. And if my memory serves me right 01 had technical problems with his car at the start of season, this is only31 4th night out and you of all people know that to be fact.you need to review2 and 3 weeks ago videos of linclon feature,we have,And why would 31 lend 01 parts for his car and then tear them up,I think a select few people just like making a mountain out of a mole hill,it was just a unfortunate 1st lap 3rd turn accident that happened, i thought over all it was one of the best taces this year

Me of all people?

If you know your car has a pushing problem you drive in the corner and not lift, hhmmm, that makes sense to "me, of all people"! I also think you are on here saying look at the 1st week and where did you get video coverage? I used a guy in the stands camera and replayed it several times, the driver said the car boobled, I seen him throw it and almost spin, over corrected and when the left rear came around it hit the 01! The 44g, you really need to see this weeks video cuz the 31 is the one that spun the 44G car into the 01, be hard to spin him a car length behind him? As far as the damage I guess I couldn't expect you to see any of the damage, cuz you were obviously watching another race! The damage was obvious to everyone when he lined back up! As far as unfortunate, yes it is cuz the car has more damge than originally thought and probably wont be racing for a month or more, and THAT I guarantee couldnt have happened even if he had hit the 44g which he didn't!!!!!!!! As far as the handling problems, why would you be having them with expert you have after 4 nights?

the reason their wasn't that many sprint cars at Lincoln is the track ate away at the tires so much. Many times the track took rubber in the heat and those guys can't afford to race there and burn up 3 tires a night(approx $180 each).

I Dont Care Whose Video From The Stands You Watched I Purchased A Video At The Track, maybe You Should Be Looking At That One,and 31 Didnt Hit 44g, We Already Purchased That One And View It Over And Again, and After The Race The Driver Of 44g Came Over To Congratulate 31 And He Himself Said 31 Didnot Hit Him,but Look At Video Good , 01 Did. But Mister P.r. When 31 Got Taken Out And We Had To Spend Hundreds Of Dollars To Fix It We Were Not On Here Whinning And Crying And Making Excuses Why We Didnt Win.

That is such a shame, with such a great open wheel heritage coming from Central Illinois. Generations of the Weyant and Standridge families have always been strong, and guys like Donnie Beechler could thrill a crowd at places as small as Lil' Springfield and as big as the Illinois State Fairgrounds. It was such a thrill to see one of "our boys" qualify for the Indy 500 in 1998. If you aren't an open wheel fan, I ask you to attend the Champ Car race, the Tony Bettenhausen 100, at the Springfield Mile. You walk in the place, and the history of the place overwhelms you. The greats such as Foyt, Unser, and Andretti all raced and won there, when real racers climbed into a dirt car on their way to the Brickyard.

Why would you be on here, the driver himself said the

motor stumbled and it was a racing incident. The car behind him couldn't know the motor would stumble. So that explains that night whether he almost spun or the motor stumbled. On the other hand when he drove into turn 3 last Saturday, he knew the car had a bad push for 4 nights and still didnt lift, with the leader on the high side in front of him? How could he or you think it would end without contact? How could he look at the tape over and over from St.Louis??????? I also didnt say the 01 didnt have contact with 44G, cuz the 31 spun him into the 01! But the point is mute cuz the first lap incident did what you were hoping for, ended the 01's year, the car is beyond repair! Now you can push your way to some more wins!!!!!!!!

motor stumbled? thats not the problem,he has to much power. And he viewed the tape prior to him and his family leaving on vacation, and as i stated befor he had no contact with 44g if ou cannot see that on the tape maybe you should have a chat with 44g, we did.Chuck prepared 31 a tape monday, before he left town. And why would you assume we would not want 01 racing the rest of year our names on that car, thats good advertising

Is it on that car or was it on that car!

So in other words the first lap incident was ok, I have a push I have had for 4 nights, so I'll drive in and not lift under a guy I am one car behind and..................but were at lincoln and the stars are lined up just right so it will all come out ok?????????? Maybe you should talk to the driver about the motor stumbling, that is what he said happened, but then again how the heck would he know huh? You can put any spin on it you want, but we won 50 races with each other and at the end of the day, he dont like to win like that! End of story. Hope you get that terrible mystery of a push out of the car,or it will be someone elses push!!!!!!!!!!!

Newsflash: As usual, the Nichols Racing team have figured out a way to fix what was originally thought to be un-repairable! So hope to see you Friday! Oh by the way, did Tony Stewart agree to come and drive or have you figured out someone else to drive at F.C.!
