Highland MOWA race

First of all, the track look the best I've seen it look in a LONG time. I liked the added banking in the turns. I'm not a huge open wheel fan, but it was a nice change of pace from the norm and those guys put on a pretty decent show.

Now onto the complaint. There was ABSOLUTELY NO REASON for all the jacking around that happened last night. They turned a show that could have been over by 9:45 (maybe even earlier) into a marathon session that ended at 11..running only 3 classes. 2 of which only had 10 cars. The show that was advertised to start at 6:30 actually started closer to 7:30. God forbid they allow a show to get over early...

Some people are never happy. I thought it was an outstanding show and the guys at the track did a great job to keep the track fast and smooth. With the heat and lack of rain I am sure this was not very easy to do. Great job Highland Speedway Crew.

wow racefan. you have no idea about open wheel racing. The track crew is at the mercy of the sprint series officals. If they want track work done they do it if they want time between races to work on cars they do it. You have to reliaze this was not a weekly show it was a touring series. Highland did a great job lastnight great track 2 grooves for sprint cars that was awesome. No body flipped and u seen these guys rubbing each other like a bullring it was awesome best show all year i seen

I have not seen sprint cars in years and last nights show let me see what i have been missing. yes it started late and all but for 108 degrees i thought the track was awesome. I would have liked to see more people in the stands but again it was hot. I hope that the fair board along with the speedway would do this again. I thought the mowa group put on a class program the drivers signing the frisbees and then throwing them into the stands i know one young boy sitting by me was all smiles because he got a drivers autograph and to hear him root for that driver was worth my admission. Bring back the sprint cars i will be back!

not only was the track good,,the show good but after chatting with some of the mowa officials i found them to be a super bunch of folks,,nice racing with ya all,,,lenny g.

You clearly didn't hear the people yelling on the south side of the bleachers, I wasn't the only one that was fed up.

Agree

I don't say much on here but I have to agree, I drove down from Springfield with my 4 year old who loves the sprints and I was not real happy that a show with a total of 44 cars between all three classes got finished at 11pm with no major incidents. It was a Wednesday night, totally understand on a weekend, but I had to work this morning and my son had pre-school. We got home at 1:20 am.

If you want to get the kids interested in racing you have to keep the show moving and get over at a decent time, heck the entire fair was closed down when we walked back to the car.

There was no reason that the races couldn't have been over by 10 or earlier, hot laps didn't start until 7:15 when they announced 6:30.

I know some of you will say, just go to the MOWA show in Peoria, Jacksonville or Macon it's closer, well I couldn't this was the only chance to take him.

Too much wasted time. A 4 hour show for 44 cars??????

Just wanted to say that the MOWA racing was great, would pay to see them again at Highland. Track was GREAT and had some passing. I think the 3rd place finisher started 15th.

I too agree with racingfan03 and Weaver Fan. In addition, the MOWA Sprints feature was run last on the program after Highland Speedway posted yesterday on this racing board that the order of program would be:

MOWA Sprints
Micros
SportMods

I think a mid week special with a travelling feature series should always be run first just for the out of town fans to have the option of an early exit for home, and for local Sprint fans to exit when the program is already running late. After the consi, the race track could have been rebuilt during an intermission and the MOWA Sprints feature could be started as soon as the race track was ready.

As the program was running late, the lenghty pill draw ceremony and the feature driver introductions were way too long.

I agree the racing was very good and hope you will have the MOWA Sprin

you know when i travel few hrs to see a race i never complain about a late ending. one year i left KLMS at 1:30am and they still wasnt finished. I already know races can run late when i go so im ok with it. If your worried about a late night then dnt go these race officals dnt have to cater to just a fews personal life common ppl get real and just enjoy a show instead of watching the clock watch the race. jmo

I thought the show was great as well. I wish they would have moved along quicker, but it was a great show. I hope the fair board brings them back again next year or that they are brought back for a Saturday night.

well mister know it all mowa is NOT the world of outlaws and they work WITH the track operaters they dont make demands like you think!!!!

ya,it went a bit long but this for all intents and purposes was a first time show for highland,,you learn by having issues..the track and the mowa officals will look at this and next time (i hope there is a next time)work twords getting the show in faster....and goinracing,,back in 69 i did drive a open wheel car at holts summit,,califorina, lake hill,st,charles and tri city,,and i ran my old allied mod and my sportsman car with a wing several times,,,kind of like the A ticked ride,,push the button all the way down and hold on......

Yea Lenny G I've seen you race with a wing a few times and I've seen you race at Lake Hill once or twice. I'm 66 years old how old are you?

I do admit they did waste a lot of time, not only for the fans but the drivers that do work the next day. It was a great race track was fast and smooth. Hope they are back next year, but for you to keep fans coming back you gotta pull your head out yours azz es and keep a show moving.

I'm not complaining that the show got over late, I would have been fine with that had they had 100+ cars and a couple on track incidents. I've been at the late KLMS early bird shows, I've been to Lucas Oil Speedway where I've walked in my front door at 5:30 AM.

What I'm complaining about, is that they had FORTY FOUR cars, started 45 minutes late, and couldn't keep the show moving to save their lives. There's absolutely no reason for that show to have ended at 11 PM. I loved watching sprints on that track and mini-sprints are one of my favorite classes to watch. I hope they have them back again next year, but Highland should be ashamed of how that show was run Wednesday night.

65,,regular old fart,,been racing 47 years,,started at lake hill when it was dirt..we used to unload the "booze,,da broads and the race car in that order,,corse that was back in the day,,our beer can huggies consisted of a tightly wrapped shop towel
