Highland Speedway rained out on Sept 5, 2009

I don't think a Sunday show on a school night is going to happen in Highland. I don't think they have had any trouble with the local stock car haters for several years and that would be a good way to open up that can of worms again. Any town but Highland it would be a good idea Fireball.

It doesn't matter what decision Highland Speedway makes on when they make up championship night. Half of the people are going to be cool with it and the other half will just be on here tearing them down like usual.

So whatever they decide to do on the matter try to respect their decision and understand that they probably will not be able to make everybody happy with it.

Just an all around tough deal. Why the heck did it rain Saturday anyways!!
Well said CT.

I know that there are going to be unhappy people either way Scott decides to go with rescheduling of championship night. The one thing it would be good of him to consider is that there was not a race scheduled on the 12th so for those that are there every week this would have been the weekend to make other plans. Scott seems like a fair guy and just wanted to put this perspective out there for thought.

My hat off to Scott for running a good track this year while there have been a few learning experiences over all it has been a good year.:)

Not many local drivers will make the trip to Eldora for the World that would be running for Highland points championship, so run on the 12th. Better than trying to run against a $10,000 to win show locally the weekend after on the 19th.

Some of the point contenders may not be running the World 100, but I'm sure there are some point contenders from Highland that have planned their vacation to go out and watch the World 100. Like I said before its a tough deal.

champion ship night

I dont like to pick sides but next fridaynight at TCS is their champion ship night. And next Saturday at Pevely is their champion ship night , so what is the big deal with Highland, if Scott needs help Iam sure he could get it. But everyone seems to pick on Highland as the BAD PRESON,they are the only ones that seem to take a break to give the local people a break to go to the World. I say lets race s

i guess everyone just needs to learn this is racing not burger king so u can't have it your way get over it if you don't like their deccision then fine go somewhere else

the people that ***** and moan on here about highland are to much of a baby to tell them about it face to face

I think no track should schedule against the world, but that is just my opinion. Most people that disagree have never been there.

Sat. Night is the truck race at gateway too :). Figured I'd throw that log in the fire also

I would spend my money at Highland.

Racing against the World 100 or the Pepsi Nationals, well, I'm sure there are more people not to going to Eldora than those who are going. Plus, I would rather see them not compete against another local track when they are running a big show.

it is a tough decision, the next open saturday i could think of it october 10th. run it then or the 19th i would say. i think the 12th would be a bad idea and you already added one sunday race I don't know how good attendance would be if you kept having races on a sunday.

october 10th is the Ump Nationals at Eldora so that wont work either. No matter when they plan it, someone is getting mad. they are holding a double ended sword.

true there are more people not going to eldora then people that are going and ive been to highland getinit i go there almost every saturday

Guess what they decided to run on a Sunday....and it's the weekend of the hornet 2 day show so all the sportsman got booted on the 19th for pro late models....way to keep up with your current classes Highland...

Don't worry Brenda, We will have to pay another night to see the finish of the races that they don't get done like in the past . Hay Highland just keep adding just to get the car count up maybe try fixing the rules a little, why not you have done everything else

I understand the point of making more money but what really ticks me off is the fact that they are going to run this when everybody and their brother can also come run. This in fact, could quite possibly kick someone out of a starting position if they are having a bad night but ran there ALL year long... believe me I've paid my money every week to sit in the stands and watch my husband and brother run just as the late models, modified, streetstock, and hornets have.. to under handedly be **** on by Highland for a race in Pevely and crates? Yes believe me, I would love to sit at Pevely with my husband and watch races also.. but something he's done all summer long, faithfully every Saturday and then to get shoved out? Just an ignorant move in my opinion on Highland's part. Hope them crates bring you alot more money than the sportsman do.... JMO as always....

First, I don't think many, if any, of the I-55 Sportsman will venture to Highland on the 27th to race. They don't come up for the Extreme Series races or the Fair Race, so why would they come up for the Championship night race when the top 6 spots are locked in? And, it's a Sunday night race, with work and school early the next day. They won't be there.

The top 6 Sportsman drivers are:
1. Russell Eilers
2. Ryan Eilers
3. Greg Spencer
4. Rob Lee
5. Rick Johnson
6. Mark Bohnenstiehl

...so the best anyone else can start is 7th.

Second, what's the payout for this night? Any more money? I doubt it. If even the Belleville racers who don't go to I-55 won't come up for a regular Saturday night, then they won't be there for only a regular payout on a Sunday night, and Championship Night at that.

Brenda, you have nothing to worry about. Now, the fact that you will have to pay $3.00 more to watch that night is unfortunate, but it's better than having to pay $25.00 / $30.00 / $35.00 to watch a Sportsman race because it's stuck in with some big Late Model race. Maybe Scott will take the extra $3.00 he gets at the gate and add it to the Sportsman purse? :D

Yeah there won't be no more money added to the sportsman... but I would and I have paid 30 bucks to watch a big show.. there's the difference it's more than 2 classes... I have no problem paying to watch late models, mod, sportsman, streetstock, hornets.. when it's everyone running. Now 15 to watch hornet features and sportsman feature is outragous (sp?).. are they running anything else besides hornets, sportsman?

I really don't care anymore because I think we're skipping that night anyway... what's the worse we can get, 10th? That's up to Aaron.

Good luck to everyone !!

Brenda
