Highland Speedway Ready for 2005!

HIGHLAND, IL – Highland Speedway, located on the Madison County Fairgrounds, has another great season of racing planned for 2005. Highland Speedway is a ¼ mile, semi-banked clay oval featuring Stock Car racing on Saturday nights, April through September.

The 2005 season’s “Play Day” is Saturday, March 26. Pit gate opens at 12 noon and Play Day pit passes are $10. Grandstand opens at 12:30 PM and admission is $2 for all.

The season officially gets underway with the Season Opener on Saturday, April 2, 2005. All regular events will follow this format: Pit gate opens at 3:00 PM. and grandstand gate opens at 5:30 PM. Pill draw is from 3:30 – 5:30 PM. Hot laps are at 5:30 PM. UMP Late Models and UMP Modifieds will start qualifying at 6:00 PM. The racing program begins immediately after qualifying. Weekly regular races include UMP Late Models, UMP Modifieds, Sportsman, Bombers, and Hornets. Prices are $25 for pit passes. Grandstand general admission is $ 10 for ages 16 and up, $5 for children ages 10 – 15, and ages 9 and under are free if accompanied by a paid adult admission.

The 2005 Highland Speedway schedule includes several special events:
*Saturday, May 21st – The Northern All Star Late Model series make it’s first stop at Highland Speedway. Late Models will race for $3,000 to win
*Tuesday, June 21st – The annual MS Race for a Cure returns featuring UMP Late Models and UMP Modifieds. This event raises money for Multiple Sclerosis.. Late Models will race for $3,000.
*Tuesday, July 5th – The UMP Summer Nationals series returns to Highland Speedway. This special show features some of the Nation’s top dirt Late Model drivers who will be racing for $6,000 to win.
*Wednesday, July 27th – The UMP Challenge of Champions makes a return visit to Highland Speedway for the annual Madison County Fair race.
