Highland Sportman Feature Finish 7/2/05?

Last night after the finish of the Sportsman feature it was announced that the #88 car of Billy Knebel Jr. was put back two spots for rough driving. My main question is WHY??? He did make contact with the 166(?) car on the last lap but the guy was all over the track after already being lapped by the first two cars. He also made contact with the 441 car when he passed him but that was mostly caused be the #70 car pulling back out on the track after the corner man told him to pull in. The #88 car had a run on the #441 car for second place and the #70 car pulled out on the track and crowded him.
A couple of weeks ago, a late model driver threw a temper tantrum on the track and got no punishment at all. He got points for the race and no fine or suspension.

MOJO.. Id sure like to know also what incident the track officials saw that warranted that. I didnt see any rough driving out of the ordinary that would.. I think it was a bad call.

Here is what I heard on the scanner so don't kill the messenger. He got put back one spot for the incident with the 441 and one spot for the incident with the 166. MOJO was pretty accurate about the 70 and 166 cars. The 70 car should have known better than to pull back on the track when two cars were racing for position and the 166 car had already cost the 88 car a feature win earlier this year. I was watching the finish of the race but I don't see how the 88 car could have gotten called for taking the 166 car out the way he was all over the track.

thanks for the info glbert.. I remember the 70 coming back on the track and getting in the way but I dont remember Knebel getting into anyone other than a regular racing incident.. Still think it was a bad call.. JMHO

You know, it is amazing that you all can get on here and put on some posts and totaly miss some facts. #1 my car number is 116, not 166. If you had actuly been watching the race rather then slack jawing to your hillbilly friends you would have noticed this fact. #2 I DID NOT cost the 88 of Billy Knebel Jr. a feature at the begining of the year. He and I had discussed this after it had happend and he said it himself that he should have been able to get around me . #3 The blue flag with the pretty yellow line is held out for cars who are being passed by the leaders, to HOLD THEIR LINE. it does not mean get out of the way, get off the track or anything of the sorts. I held my line, I followed the same line I had been running the entire race. Yes I had an extremly bad push threw the corners which had caused me several problems threw out the feature, but the Bohnenstils(23b,15) did not seem to have anyproblems passing me, why did the #88 have such a hard time that he had to spin me? Remember I lost a spot also (to the 70) that I was not given back. As far as things go with the #70 , it all happend behind me so I have no place to comment on that. Now I am going on Vacation for the next two weekends, so in that time , if any of you would like to get a car, come out, and show all of us how well you can do it compared to us. Feel FREE!!! If not, fine, otherwise if you dont like what you see then dont come back. And MOJO, if you dont see any reason why the #88 got put back two spots, I sure could use some help straightening out my rear bumper from wher I was " SO SLIGHTLY NUDGED". Grab your port-a-power and I'll see you this evening at the house.
DAVID FETSCH #116, not 166

#1, I put a question mark beside the 166 in my first post because I was not sure if it was 166 or 116. I don't think anyone who uses words like totaly, actuly, begining, happend, extremly and threw in their post should resort to name calling over my being one number off. #2, what happens on the track is between the drivers. They may give you the benefit of the doubt the first time you are part of a lapped car incident but if it starts to become a habit you will get more damage than just a bumper. #3, this one has been beaten to death in the recent posts and does not need to be repeated. Different people see things different ways. While some may interpret pushing high in the corners every lap as running the same line, others refer to it as being all over the track. All that being said, I hope you are able to figure your car out and get it to handling better. Have a good vacation and good luck the rest of the season.

Just because Fetsch (sp?) was ALL OVER the track as everyone puts it....whether he's running a line or not...doesn't give KNEBEL the right to spin him out and get away with it. He took him out because he was a lapped car and in his way...big deal, go around him like the other two cars did, they didn't have a problem. Not everyone has a ride given to them..some of us have to work for our money to put in these cars and apparently aren't as FAST as you would like, but give them a chance to have fun to.

Knebel's done it before..and finally got penalized.

I realize Fetsch may not have been as fast as the leaders, but to spin out a lap car in front of the rest of the field can be pretty dangerous. If he was slow it should be pretty easy for a driver to get around him. And, I agree with streetstockfan, Knebel got what was well deserved, it finally caught up with him.

I dont have anything agaist Knebel, but also think he got what he deserved. There are lots of racers out there they dont get punished for the actions they choose to take. David (in my eyes) did not do anything wrong. He held his line and got spun and lost a place in the finish. I'm very happy knebel got put back two spots, I only with they would have put him back more. He is a dirty driver, and those kinds of drivers do not need to be on the track. And to agree with streetstockfan, alot of these drivers dont have the money to build these cars like some of the others. They do the best they can and just try to have some fun.

Ok before you all go bashing my brother in law, you better get your facts straight, billy is not a dirty driver at all. If you would watch him every weekend there are times that he spins himself out. Yeah maybe he was given a ride, what the hell does that have to do with anything? He was out htere last year in his own car. It's not his fault he's a good driver. I'm not going to comment on what happened saturday because i was not there but i do know billy would not take anybody out on perpous. He does not deserve anything. As far as fetch goes he can't drive worth a **** anyway. His car is not good enough to even keep up with the sportsman class. It's a bomber and that's where he should keep it. What's that saying, If you can't run with the big dogs STAY IN THE STANDS. Billy races hard because he is not afraid of anything. He hit the wall and kept on going a few weeks ago. It didn't even fase him at all. Harrison, beilong, marty jr., billy, korte are all hard drivers. That's the good drivers, that's what the fans like.Dirty driving is voigt. On any night.

And For You David My Ex-husband Pits For Billy And Said You Just Lied In Your Post Billy Never Said It Was His Fault.my Ex Said Come On Over To Hte Car His Name Is David And He'll Take Care Of This.Your all just jealouse because he was given a ride and you wasn't. Get over. Melton agreed with billy that fetch can't drive. dON'T GO ALL OVER HTE TRACK HOLD YOUR LINE.

I don't think the issue is whether or not Fetsch can drive. The point is that Billy took him out intentionally and if he so's GOOD then he should have been able to get around him. Spinning a car out in front of the rest of the field isn't a real bright thing to do. By the way, I'm not jealous that he was given a ride, couldn't give a s$it less. He needs to learn to drive clean.

No billy did not take him out, fetch was already spinning and billy had no where to go. I just talked to my ex-husband and he said that fetch was all over and spun his self. Well if you wasn't jealous you wouldn't have brought up the fact that he was given a ride while others have to pay for theres. He is one of the best drivers out there. He is one of the only drivers that can run the high side.Watch him more often you would know how he drives.

First of all I didn't say anything about him being given a ride. I think you have your people confused. And I don't need to check with anyone, because I was there and personally saw it, Fetsch was not already spinning. He was hit directly from behind from your brother-in-law. If he likes the high side so much maybe he should have tried running it and Fetsch wouldn't have been in his way because he was down lower. Maybe instead of checking with your ex-husband you should go and watch the races yourself and you'll know what happened.

116 was NOT already spinning. You know its funny how people can see things completly differant. Wether or not david is a good driver isnt the issue. Knebel got what he deserved and I just wish he would have gotton penalized more then he did. And who are you to comment on anything if you werent there???? I dont care what the husbands says, if you didnt see it, dont comment. That simple.

TO: Racing35 Its funny how people can have totally differant views on the same race. Fetsch was not already spinning, and i was there. If you werent there then dont comment. You dont know what you are talking about. No one is jealous of a "free ride" Some people actually work to build their cars. Bottom line, If you didnt see it, or werent there, dont comment. Notice how nothing has been said about 116 spinning himself until you came on. The fact knebel spinning fetsch was never an issue. We all know he did it. Now that you have come on, the story has all the sudden changed to Fetsch spun himself and knebel had no choice. WTF!!! Get a clue.

OK, For starters, Billy is not a dirty driver, I do not think he is, in fact I personaly belive he is one of the better drivers in the class.I did not call him a dirty driver and dont think that he is on a constant basis. Yes he does drive a car for someone else. Most of the drivers in the class do, that doesnt make him a bad person/driver. Second of all, what I was refering to was when I supposedly cost Billy a feature win. That was what I was reffering to when I said it was his fault. We had spoken after that incedent and he said "I should have been able to get around youbut I made my decision too late" Now I did not get to speak with Billy after the incedent. AS far as things go with me not being good enough to be in the sportsman class? I busted my BUTT for 3 years in the bomber class to get to where I am in the sportsman class. In fact I spent a good portion of the season in the top 10 of the points.I guess only the top 5 is reserved for the "WORTHY" drivers. And Shannon, no offense but if you were not ther to see what had happend, please do not comment. Hearing things second hand and then saying them from your point of view, things get lost in the mix and thats where other things get misconstrued. Now I am not saying that you dont know what your talking about, but if you were not there then every thing you know is just hear say. No I was not "allready spinning" I was spun. Plain and simple. If your EX would still like to come and " set me straight" I will be back in two weeks. Right now my Honey Moon takes presadence over racing. Billy is an excelent driver and I hope that He has a great year, maybe what he needs is to stay on the top and leave us bottom feeders on the bottom? Any how right now, IF YOU WERE NOT THERE THEN DO NOT COMMENT. If you were and you had seen what happend: feel free to comment because you are the ones who had seen the happenings and are the people who have a right to your opinons on the incedent.

well I WAS there. all i am gonna say is if I were Billy K's car owner and he didnt spin out the mooving roadblock 116. I would fire him on the spot. 116 needs To go to school or get back in the hornets!

i agree

i could not agree with you more lucas.i finally figured out how to post , so here it goes. i was there at highland last saturday and i think they should make a rule that when you cannot drive your car you should park it. i have no ill feelings for the 116 driver but he does not need to be out there. we walked by his car in the pits saturday and it looks like that car needs to be in a demo derby. it is funny how for someone who always runs in the back and gets lapped every week how his car can be such a pile. all the guys running up front have to miss him. i do not blame thee 88 car for doing what he did. he is trying to win a championship and has to dodge that pile every week. maybe when the bohnensteil (?) start hitting him it will be there fault also. just my 2cents but should be good racing for the next 2 weeks w/o him there. good luck to all cars avoiding the 116.
