Highland Updates 4/2/16

what fans ?? last night the fair board took a hit in the pocket book with the low fan in the stand count due to the weather --BUT they paid the full advertised purse to the cars that showed up -- they could have called it but chose to run the show --- JMO

This brings to wonder why tracks in this area of the country dont wait until the end of April or the beginning of May to start their season. it would only make better business sense.

Finally someone agrees with me on this matter! Look back at some other post and I said the same thing! But watch what you say...they damn near crucified me for saying this exact same thing. These people keep saying it's early it's early. Guys go back and look at last year's car counts at Highland. Last night's car count isn't far off from what all of last year was other than special shows as last week was! Cold weather did play a part in last night but it wasn't the major factor in why the late model car counts are down!

there is only so many late models to go around, last night 2 cars that ran highland last week ran pevely this week, 2 others i don't know where they were, the nine car had problems last week and the circle 7 car flipped at belleville. i wish a track in the st.louis area would run something else on a regular basis.

Yes I do agree with you. We all know it's not the sole reason or lower car counts in the late models the weather that is but, that along with cars not being ready. plus the cold weather does keep some fans from coming to the races So, if your losing money does it make good business sense. Now I don't know if they lost money or not I'm just saying if you do why not start a little later. I think some of the thinking is they might lose cars to another track if they don't and that could cost them more in the long run if several guys do this but, you pay good, spend time with the track, treat people fair they won't go anywhere else once your track opens up.

it's gonna be interesting to see what car counts look like when fayette county opens up. mods and street stocks at least..

Street stocks wont matter really never had highland street stocks come over unless it was a special event.

Im thinking highlans lm count will be fine saturday, pevely is hard on tires they may lose some.grifdaw was talking about going to highland

Crucified???? Stating fact over opinion is hardly a crusifiction. If highland were to race in September they would have to draw against the world 100 and mod mania. Not to mention cardinal and cub baseball If they race in September they will lose their ass plain and simple. If you wanted to ask an educated person about late season races I would get a hold of the gentleman who promoted the 2 day b mod special at highland 2 years ago. They ran b mods street stocks and hornets. I have not asked him but if I were to guess I would say he broke even at best. I'm all for as many races as possible as long as it is for the greater good of the track. Not trying to start an argument we just have different opinions.

Adam no matter how you cut and dry it they can't justify running a class that continues to produce low car counts! Someone stated above that the fans pay for that class...maybe so but when your not putting butts in the seats for that class the fans of other classes are paying for that! I don't care how you look at it...it can not be justified! I have said it before and I'll say it again. If you have the money to run a super late model then go to the touring series for that class. Take the money you would be using for that class and distribute it amongst the other classes. I mean let's be honest. The b-mods are $300 to win the street stocks are $125 to win with the exception of Tri City who pays $200 for the street stocks. You can justify that because you have more b-mods than street stocks that show up nightly. Another thing....they are running 5 classes and on most nights they can barely get the show in. The argument of late models put butts in the seats is irrelevant anymore. Then someone stated that there are cars that aren't ready yet. Look at the car count in Pevely Saturday night. I seen 1 car who normally runs Highland in Pevely and I seen 2 cars that Highland is pretty much in there back yard running Pevely. What's that about? You and I both know that if it wasn't for a select few that is still running the late models at Highland that class would be gone....but you have to admit with the car counts it producing it's time for that class to move on.

I can see the ol dumb poster CG4518 is at it again! This guy cracks me up! He thinks he's getting under my skin but he's really just showing his true intelligence and the fact that he is so infatuated with me he can't stand it!! Good day there little Twinkle toes Chuck Goodman

sounds like faustfan2 is just anti late models get rid of late models and the track will soon go too. which one do you want a track that races late models or a track that dont race at all ?

No not anti late model at all. In fact I think there is nothing better than a down right good late model and modified race. Apperantly you don't see what I'm saying either. You can not justify running a class that is producing that type of low car counts! You can't do it!

i know exactly what you are saying apparently you didnt read the part where i said get rid of late models and the track will soon go too. its hard to drop. late models when your fan base is used to seeing them take a look at some other tracks that have done it. also the track dont have to justify it. its theyre track to run the way they see fit. if they want pay that purse its up to them its theyre money. jmo

A lot of the crowd come to see the late models where you believe that or not... Problem is they are too expensive to run for local $ so local lates are dying off ....
