Highland Updates 8/12/17

How did they score that heat race that th 78 was scored 4th explane that to me

LM finish Zobrist by a half lap then Klein Bailey Salter Kimmons Lap down Suhre Kuhn Jacober Workman Oller Hammerle Geisen Koch DNF Leach Horner J Zobrist

I can explain how Zobrist was 4th in heat since Horner was charged with the yellow and Zobrist was highest running car on last completed lap and only 3 cars finished

Mod finish Green to checkered Deibert Eilers Sellers Wolfmeier Edens Smith Horstmann Hamilton Pruett Snow DNF Glover Garson Dresch

My comment it is that the invert should be only for the cars in the dash. I know there was 3 cars in his heat. My point being that Zobrist didn't finish even though the scored him 4th. This track has always catered to Zobrist. But it is what it is.

After seeing 78 run the feature he could have started last and still won. I'm in agreement with you in your thinking the top 6 cars should be in the invert but they've been doing top 8 all year so it is was it is.
The re-draw is either a drivers friend or enemy.

Catered? Hardly. The way it worked out was an odd-ball occurrence that may never happen again. Let me explain...

The top 8 racers are gridded into the redraw process, as determined by how they would normally be gridded if we were do go with a progressive racing format. Had there been enough cars for three heats (which we've had more often than not), Chad Zobrist would not have been a part of the process. But as it worked out last night, with there were only two heat races. That means we take the top 4 from each heat.

In the first heat there were 7 cars. The fact that only 3 finished is inconsequential, as those 7 took the green flag, and are reflected in the finishing order based on the scenario that unfolded: Travis Horner was leading and spun out in front of Zobrist coming off of turn 2. That took out Horner, Chad Zobrist, Mark Oller and Jason Zobrist. With those four being unable to continue, they are placed in the final finishing order as they crossed the line on the last completed lap, with Horner going to the rear as he was charged with the caution. Therefore, the heat finishing order was Greg Kimmons, Bryan Leach, Trent Workman, Chad Zobrist, Mark Oller and Jason Zobrist.

Had one or all not taken the green flag, they would have been scored as a DNS and been placed at the back of the feature starting line-up. But once you have presented your car for a particular race, you are then credited with a finishing spot, whether you complete all of the laps or not. That's just the way it's done.

So no conspiracy here. Honestly, some here seem to just look for ways to discredit anything that is out of the ordinary as favoritism. It gets really old. If you are going to complain, at least make sure you are familiar with the rules.

In my opinion, the redraw keeps drivers away.why even have a dash?just let us race from the spot we earn thru racing the heat and dash.
We already rely on luck enough just making it through the night.

The dash is a dash for cash. So that's what's on the line. As for why a redraw, we can't forget we're in the entertainment business. Y'all might not like to hear that, but any venue that sells a ticket, be it a racetrack, concert, movie theater, or baseball game, is in showbiz. If we don't give fans something to watch other than fast-guys up front freight train racing, our days are numbered.

If they wouldn't promote passing, then no body could complain about zobrist winning. This is why tracks must remain single file at all times. So people cannot complain when some one races up to the front
