Eldon, MO(September 1st)-
Using his patented rimriding style to pull away from Brad Best, Jesse Hockett took night number one of the Lake Ozark Speedway 360 Nationals that was co-sanctioned by the O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors and the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders.
Hockett jumped into the lead once the green flag fell with Best using the low side of the raceway to move by Jerrod Hull for second.
On the second lap, fourth-running Chuck Swenson entered turn one too hard and made contact with third place Hull. Swenson would spin with Hull doing a nice job of performing a 360 and saving his spot in the running order.
Best would continue to pressure Hockett for the top spot when action was stopped on lap five for Jonathan Cornell, who hit an infield tractor tire and knocked out his front end in turn four. Tim Newman also came to a stop as he spun to avoid Cornell. Both would lose positions inside the top ten.
Hockett would again lead on the restart, but Best was right with him and even led at the flagstand to complete lap seven.
Heavy traffic loomed ahead as Hockett took back over the top spot on lap eight.
Once lapped traffic came into play, Hockett extended his lead as the majority of drivers were hugging the bottom of the raceway. With Best blocked by lapped traffic, “The Rockett” would extend his lead and he would go on to an easy win in the VKCC Motorsports mount. Best would hold onto second in his Allen Murray machine. Jerrod Hull would edge Randy Martin for third in his own Avenger. Martin would be the KSE Hard Charger as moved up ten spots in his Diamond Pet Foods Maxim. Tim Montgomery would run fifth followed by Tracy Nichols. Gabe Maycock would run seventh followed by Tyler Blank in eighth. Eric Schrock would run ninth with Mike Trent rounding out the top ten.
The Winged Outlaw Warriors will finish out their busy weekend as they complete the second night of the LOS 360 Nationals in Eldon Sunday evening.
