The World of Outlaws will take to the always racy ¼-mile at Kokomo Speedway in Indiana on Tuesday, June 5 for the Hoosier Sprint Nationals. This will be the series final event of the season in Indiana and lone event at Kokomo .
Last season, the 40-lap A-Feature at the track ran non-stop in just over eight and a half minutes. Even more impressive was the fact that all 24 cars were running at the end of the event, which is a rarity on any track, let alone a ¼-mile where the car are constantly in contact with one another.
Craig Dollansky came out on top leading all 40 laps to collect the $10,000 payday. He began the night by turning in the second-fastest lap in time trials with a stellar field of 47 cars on-hand. He followed that up with a second-place finish in the second heat race, and then he won the Crane Cams Dash to earn the pole position for the A-Feature. This native of Elk River , Minnesota won his first World of Outlaws event of the 2007 season on May 12 at Lake Ozark Speedway in Missouri . He is solidly in the Top-10 in championship points heading into the event at Kokomo .
In the 19 World of Outlaws events at the track dating back to 1978, 11 different drivers have visited the winner’s circle. Of the drivers that will be competing on Tuesday, June 4, four have won A-Feature events at the track.
Steve Kinser leads that list with six wins. His son Kraig, the 2004 World of Outlaws Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year also won at the track in 2005. Kinser, a 20-time World of Outlaws Champion won in the series first ever visit to Kokomo in 1978. The native of Bloomington, Indiana has six wins this season, including last Friday night at Sharon Speedway in Ohio, as well as the first World of Outlaws event of the season in his home state at Tri-State Speedway, back on April 21. He is currently fifth in championship points on strength of 18 Top-10 finishes.
Danny Lasoski the 2001 World of Outlaws Champion won at Kokomo in 1991. The native of Dover , Missouri is currently fourth in championship points on the strength of 20 Top-10 finishes. Among those are two wins, one at Paducah International Raceway in Kentucky in April, and on May 23 at Grandview Speedway in Pennsylvania .
Jac Haudenschild, who is currently 10th in the World of Outlaws championship standings won at Kokomo in 1985. He had a very strong run at Sharon Speedway last Friday night, finishing sixth, and he finished just outside the Top-10 at Eldora on Friday night, as he continues to close in on his first A-Feature win of the season. The native of Wooster , Ohio has 11 Top-10 finishes on the season.
Donny Schatz, the reigning World of Outlaws champion finished third last season in the event, at Kokomo Speedway, one of his series-best 42 Top-Five finishes en route to the title. He is coming off a very solid weekend that him finish fifth on Friday night at Sharon Speedway and sixth on Saturday night at Eldora, as he continues to lead the standings, as he chases his second consecutive title. The native of Fargo , North Dakota has won a series best seven A-Feature events and has racked up 25 Top-10 finishes in the first 28 events of the season.
Joey Saldana will head to Kokomo in search of his first World of Outlaws title, as he continues his second season driving for Kasey Kahne Racing. The native of Brownburg , Indiana has won five races this season. He finished fifth at Kokomo last season. Heading into the Hoosier Sprint Nationals, the home state driver has five A-Feature wins to go along with 22 Top-10 finishes as he trials Schatz by just 68 points. Saldana leads the series in laps led, and also has set fast time on five occasions to lead the series.

Paul McMahan won his first race of the season this past Saturday night at Eldora Speedway, which is owned by his car owner Tony Stewart, a native of Indiana . McMahan is currently seventh in points on the strength of 13 Top-10 finishes.
