How many teams would be interested on racing a hornet madness on a 1/2 mile track? We are looking into holding this at the famous T.H.A.T. The payout would be stacked something like $600 to win and $75 to start. NO ENTRY FEE, just your standard pit pass entry. Please post your opinion or PM me, also answer the poll...
THANKS

Please use the poll

Please use the poll, I know most don't have time to give a written oppinion, but please vote. I need some imput here, before we put this thing in motion. We will be looking to do this at the end of the season.

What and where is the famous T.H.A.T.?

Thanks, those acronyms dont help us much down here in S.E. Missouri. How about something on the lines of number of laps, payout etc..

Big flat 1/2 mile track don't sound like too much fun for me. My car is well built, but I don't think I would want to race on that big of a track that is flat.

I know we have alot of 4cyl guys around. Come on give me your opinions I want to get this booked if we can pull enough cars, and big crowd. I also will be running crate late models "open Comp" along with a big sprint show that night. Would be a season ender for the ASCT.

Hornets on a half mile? Sounds dangerous to me! Are these cars built safe enough for these speeds?

AK

how many laps would it be?
how many would start the race?
what day would it be held on?
depending on the day i would make it

Man I can't imagine putting this type of car out there on the 1/2. On a weekly basis we see front end failures, for example tires and wheels coming off! What is the result gonna be if that happens on the 1/2? Safety has to be considered the top priority here.

How many laps? What night (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)? One day or two day show? UMP hornet rules? Is there gonna be any sort of tech or are the Pro 4s/Pony Cars gonna be allowed to race w/ the hornets and whip up on them? Need more info before making a decision. Could possibly bring 3-6+ cars...

I voted bad idea. Here is why. Most of these cars the rollbars are welded to the floorpan. Thin gauge metal with 095 bars welded to them. Oh i know they plate them. But on a half mile these cars could easily get to 70-80 mph. Ever seen a unibody car hit something at 50??? Let alone those speeds??? Ive seen some cars built pretty good and wouldnt mind seeing them on 1/4 miles. But your talking stock struts and front end parts not designed for rough racing on dirt at fast fast speeds. To make these cars safe they would need an actual structure front to back(boxed frame or tube)and tie the cage font and back protection too it. Might as well get a street stock and go from there.

I agree. Hornets, I don't care who built it, racing on a big track is a bad idea, they are even going to fast at I-55 in my opinion. all racing is dangerous.
