Lebanon,Mo.-Over 110 teams checked into the pits to start the Labor Day Weekend Racing action at the LebanonMidwaySpeedway with several new faces in the winners circle on Friday Night.
The Superstock feature rolled out with Bradley McDowell grabbing the opening lap lead.Ben Newell would overtake McDowell to take the top spot and then points runner-up JC Newell overtaking his son to lead lap 3..Lap 4 would see the yellow wave for Mark Davis.On the restart,JC Newell pulled away from the field as the battle for second was between Ben Newell and Donnie Gennings as point leader Tony Jackson Jr was making his move from 11th starting spot.Out in front,JC Newell would grab his second feature of the season as Donnie Gennings,Jackson Jr,Ben Newell, and McDowell rounded out the top 5.
The Modified feature would see Tim Brown grab the opening lead with Matt Johnson following closely along with Eric Hudson.On lap 5,Johnson would make a move around Brown to grab the lead as the yellow waved for Todd McCoin.On the restart,Johnson,Brown,Hudson,and Brian Brown started to pull away from the field.With Johnson setting a fast pace,Hudson moved into second on lap 9 just as the yellow waved as first time visitor Rick Brown pulled low in turn 4 taking him out of action.On the restart,Johnson and Hudson continued a tigh battle up front until the yellow waved on lap 15 for Rusty Dukes and Jason Russell who both were moving into the top 5.On the restart,Johnson,Hudson,Tim Brown and Tony Jackson Jr started to move away from the field as top 5 runner Johnnie Fennewald went out with problems.The tide turned on lap 19 as leader Matt Johnson pulled up high in turn as he lost the driveshaft taking him out of contention for the win.From there Hudson and Jackson Jr battled out until lap 24,when Hudson pulled away coming out of turn 2 to grab his 4th win of the season followed b Jackson Jr.,early leader Brown,brian Brown, and a fast moving Dennis Cramer at the stripe.
The Winged SprintCars would see another new face in the winners circle as Steve Lawrence battle all night long with veteran Joe Todd to lead all 20 laps of the SprintCar feature grabbing his first ever SprintCar win.Joe Todd,Matt Tatro,Clint Todd, and John Rowland completed the top 5 in a very competitive feature.Point leader Eric Todd fell out early with problems closing up the points battle heading for this Friday Night.
Todd Cook grabbed the opening lap lead in a very strong FactoryStock Feature as Troy White moved right behind leader Cook while Bobby Ratterree,Dale Berry, and Tim Brown along with Tyson Troutman all battling for position.The race stayed green as White closed in on leader Cook while 11th starting Tim Brown was coming up quickly with some 3 wide battles in the pack.On lap 14,White closed to within 3 cars of leader Cook as some steam was starting to show from leader Cook's car.Heading on the final lap,White made a move to the outside,but Cook held on to the low groove claiming his second win of the season followed closely by White,Tim Brown,Bobby Ratterree, and Tyson Troutman at the line.
The 24 car Bomber feature had some great racing as Rookie driver Sheldon Stoufer grabbed the opening lead as outside pole setter Craig Rush fell back with problems on the start.With Stoufer heading the pack,action behind was fast as Aaron York and Robert White were battling for position.On lap 4,Bill Roberts powered to the front and grabbed the lead as Robert White had moved into second place.Back in the field B feature winner Scott Atkinson was on the move from his 21st starting spot and new point leader Dale Rodden had charged from 13th up to to the top5.As the laps were winding down,Roberts would hold off a late race surge from White to grab his 5th win overall this season with White,point leader Dale Rodden, Aaron York, and B feature winner Scott Atkinson completing the top 5.
Tony Moore grabbed the lead from point leader Dave williams and pulled way in claiming his 3rd feature win of the season in the Mini-Stock feature with Chuck Kidwell, Bryan Deatherage, Leon Fellers, and John Wagner Jr completing the top 5.
Next Friday Night-Kids Bike Races at intermission for kids 10 and under with all competing recieving trophies and prizes along with the season championships for all 6 classes.Bikes will be drawn for for those 10 and under as racing will start at 8PM.Next Sat Night a 50 lap Enduro feature along with racing in the Modifieds,Winged Sprints, and Bombers.Kids for the Friday Night bike races need to bring helmets along with pads for the knees and elbows.
