Lebanon,Mo.-Despite severe stroms throughout the area over 90 teams checked into the LebanonMidwaySpeedway ready for Friday Night Action with closes finishes headlining the card.
The Modified feature would see if Lebanon's Tony Jackson Jr could capture his third feature in a row as a strong field of Modifieds took the green flag as Jamie Ragland jumped to the early lead with Steve Muilenburg following closely behind and Eric Hudson and point leader Wayne Graybeal in tow.By lap 6,With Ragland running the high groove,Muilenburg and Hudson were battling hard for second as the next pack found Graybeal,Wayne johnston and Bob Test swapping spots. On lap 10,Troy Young spun in turn 4 bringing out the yellow. On the restart,Hudson and Muilenburg battled with Test challanging also_On lap 13,the yellow waved as Muilenburg stalled in turn 3 ending his night. On the restart,Hudson shot to the inside of Hudson and the battle was on only to see a yellow waved on lap 14 as point leader Wayne Graybeal stall in turn 1 as rearend problems took out the point leader. On the restart it was Ragland followed by Hudson and then Bob Test and last weeks winner Jackson Jr coming from 11th on the grid. A collision on lap 16 between Brian Brown and Jimmy Willis bunched the field up again as now Dean Bell who started back in the 16th starting spot was moving into the top spots. As the green waved again,Hudson and Ragland continued the side by side battle as Jackson and Test fought for 3rd place. On lap 18,Hudson made the low groove stick to take over the lead as Ragland came back again.Donnie Fellers,Wayne Johnston and Dean Bell were fighting for spots in the top 5 as leader Hudson put alittle ground between him and Ragland. As the white waved, hudson opened up a 6 car length lead as the race was on for 4th place with Test,Bell and Fellers all battling.Hudson would claim his second win of the season followed by Ragland,Jackson Jr,Bob Test, and Dean Bell at the stripe.
"I've been having some motor problems in the last couple of weeks, and haven't been here, because to run up front on the Midway, you better be prepared as the car count is strong and so is the competition"quoted Hudson."Now with the track racing for 1,000 to win next Sat Night(July 30th) and the winner getting into the Sept special,I'm thinking it's a good time to get the bad luck off our back.
The SuperStock feature saw veteran JC Newell jump to the early lead as Donnie Gennings and Jody Saultz followed closely.A lap 2 caution for Bill Scharr and Randy Hill brought the field together as point leader Tony Jackson Jr had worked into 4th place. On the restart,Newell powered ahead with Gennings close behind.Jackson began his move forward and Gennings and Jackson ran side by side as leader Newell was riding strong. On lap 8,Gennings and Jackson made contact as Jackson spun bringing out the yellow as both drivers restarted tailback. On the restart,Newell had Saultz on his bumper for the lead as Jackson cam roaring from the rear picking his way to the front. On lap 11,Jackson and Saultz battled for second as Gennings was moving up through the field.Lap 12 would find Jackson had JC Newell battling for the lead until Jackson made the winning pass on the backstretch as Gennings followed in tow.As the checkered flew,Jackson claimed the win followed by Gennings, early leader Newell,Saultz and Travis Hill at the stripe.
The Bomber feature again provided much action as Justin Stoufer reversed his role from last week as he lead the entire 15 lap event to gather his 6th win of the season over the 22 car field.Great racing between the point contenders Mike Piercey and Dale Rodden as they ran bumper to Bumper as last weeks winner Bill Roberts was charging from 11th.With Stoufer putting it on Cruise control, the real race came late as Roberts made a last lap pass to get around both Piercey and Rodden to claim the runner-up spot.Missy Shaw rebounded from and bad week last week to complete the top 5.
The Winged Sprints came strong again this week as Scott Wedelstadt lead the field down to the Green.Out in front ealry,Wedelstadt had the bottom groove working good as 2 time winner Clint Todd was making his charge into second place as Chad Johnson battled hard.An early yellow for Steve Lawrence bunched the field-up and Clint Todd tried several laps to move around leader Wedelstadt, but Scott held the line excellent.Back in the pack,Joe Todd,J.Kinder,Mike Larson were battling strong while Wedelstadt and Clint battled lap after lap.On lap 12,last weeks winner Eric Todd appeared out of nowhere and moved around to challange the lead duo.Mike Larson and Chad Johnson were battling behind for position. On lap 14,Eric shot to the outside as contender J.Kinder pulled into the pits with problems.Wedelstadt's strong run for the evening would end early as smoke began trailing out of the motor. On the restart,Eric Todd moved to the high-side and claimed the win over brother Clint,as Mike Larson edged out Johnson for third and Joe Todd rounded out the top 5.
The FactoryStock feature provided alot of excitement as point leader Randy Berry grabbed the opening lead as Terrly Green and Glen Dismang battled for second along with Bobby Ratterree. All eyes were on the back of the pack as last weeks winner "DownTown" Tim Brown was starting to make some moves in his Camaro along with Todd Cook. With Berry setting a quick pace,Terry Green pulled along side of Berry and the battle was on as Cook and Brown were slicing through the field.A quick yellow for Glen dismang in turn 4 bunched up the field and Berry and Green battled again.Brown shot from 5th on the restart to move around Ratterree, then Green and set his sights on leader Berry all in a quick moment to take control and gather the win as Green battled Berry hard for the runner-up spot followed byearly leader Berry,Ratterree, and Todd Cook at the line in a photo finish.
The Mini-Stock feature saw Tony Moore jump out to the early lead as John Wagner Jr and Chuck Kidwell battled for second along with Eric Clay.Mmore was setting a fast pace as point leader Dave Williams was now coming forward. On lap 12,Clay made the powere move to the outside and held on to record his first win of the season followed closely by Moore,Kidwell,Wagner, and Tony McClain.
