Huge penalties for Feger!

Anyone care to bet an ice cold frosty one, that he gets his appeal down to just the removal of his win and prize money?
Must be 21, and Bud products only.

I agree. Punishment is really harsh for this and isnt within order of others being punished.

Nobody wants to take me up on my bet?
Heck I'll throw in miller products.
Everyone knows the ump big wigs aren't going to keep one of their "big draw drivers" out of the summer nationals.
If I'm wrong , ill be the first to admit it.

I heard UMP is implementing a new tire soaking membership fee. Once you pay the fee you're free to soak your tires with whatever you'd like.

i could care less either way because most of the people on here talking and complaining dont have the first idea what they are talking about, but Racing68 i couldnt agree with you more. That has been my complaint this whole time. It depends on WHO it is on what kind of opinion you people want to form about the situation
Yeah, because you're smarter than the rest of us, so your opinion is the only one that should matter, right?

/end sarcasm

If nobody else will take it I will...Even though i agree with ya, just gives us another reason to have a beer together...

The botttom line to all of this is the tires were deemed altered from the origonal compound. Jason Feger does not deny the test results. He stated that after he looked up make up of the cleaner he realized that it does in fact have chemicals that soften tires. There is no way that any apeal of his should lessen the severity of the penelty. It does not matter if he didn't know about the chemicals before hand. The bottom line is whatever was on his tire may of helped him win the race and therfor he has no basis of appeals. We are talking about a guy that races racecars for a living. If he were a true proffesional don't you think knowing what he put on his tires would be a priority so you would not have to deal with loss of 20,000 bucks and possible loss of work for 3 months. He cheated and thats that. This is the second time his tires came back as altered and we should hold him to the same standards as other drivers in the U.M.P that have served their time. Kloos was dealt a 6 month suspension and after appeal he was still given three months. He also was fined more than Feger. Why does Jason Feger only get a 3 month suspension and a three grand fine? I will tell you why. He brings more people to the stands therfor makes more for the U.M.P. Tire doping brings the sport down but holding different drivers to different standards makes it an even more unfair advantage than doping your tires. Three months is a fair punishment. Why? Because that is what the last driver was given as punishment. Kloos gave the same argument about his tires but was given three months. there are some opinions in this statement but not one single stretch of the truth. If Woo or U.M.P lessons the severity of the penelty then they are opening themselves as a complete sham, farce & basically an orgnazation that can not hold themselves to the same set of morals as they ask from their members.

That comment alone shows your maturity and education! Never did I say such a thing! Im just saying that some of you should educate yourselves on this subject before commenting! Im also saying that a lot of people are defending feger (whom i really like as well) but if this were moyer or bloomquist, then 90% of the comments would be bashing them!

Dont believe me? Go look at the posts concerning madden and bloomquist getting caught!

For all that think it should be a less punishment because it was a heat race and not a feature. If you are a proffesional football player and your test comes back as positive for steroids you will be suspended just as many games if it is a reguler season game or a post season game. If you compare a reg. season game to a heat race because you have to win those games to make the playoffs just like you have to win place well in a heat race to make a feature. Cheating in a heat race is the same as cheating in a playoff game because it is the means that postitions you to be able to win in racing or football. A billion dollar industry such as football realizes the severity of cheating no matter how big the game is so why cant we hold racers to the same thought process. In any sport if you are caught cheating you are stripped of the title that you cheated to get.

Michael ended up forfeiting all of his winnings during the appeal as a fine, so I don't get why Feger would waste his time running. The Gerstner team got the run-around during that time frame and were treated rudely by UMP. I guarantee Sam is holding Feger's hand through this entire process.

UMP needs to stay consistent with their punishment. I've heard stories for too long of "poster children" of UMP (both mod and LM) getting caught, and getting nothing more than a slap on the wrist. If you're going to police tires, you have to stay consistent across the board.

A billion dollar industry such as football also has a list of banned chemicals. DIRTcar does not.
Jason Said it himself. Their was the stuff that people use to soften tires. What about this statement dont you understand? If he knew when he used or not does not matter. It could of helped him win the heat race which postioned him to win a feature. Thats not what my point was on this last comment though. My point was cheating in a heat race that is linked to the feature he won is still cheating. Because he used the heat race to position himself in the feature. Correct?

It was a WOO Press Release, think about it...they are the ones that quoted Jason as saying that.

My point is typically intent does matter in major sports and the law.

Intent does matter in the law and the NFL.
If a player appeals all the results are different. NFL fines different and sometime eliminates the penalties entirely based on the circumstance.
If someone knowingly commits a crime, typically the consequences are different.

Out of curiosity, I asked Sam (at the rainout 2 years ago at Macon summernationals, shortly after the Kloos incident), "what products are acceptable for cleaning tires?" His response "Water".

Ignorance of the rules is no excuse. Everyone knew that they were testing tires for foreign substances. If they were not 100% sure if a product was acceptable to use, they should have picked up the phone and asked the sanctioning body.

All anyone had to do was ask. And everyone should be held accountable for their own actions.
