I'm a teacher at an elementary school in Waterloo, IL. Today concluded our ISAT testing week. Each year, we pump the kids up for the test with a theme. This year's theme was racing! I've been involved with racing all my life and was excited to help make this an exciting week for the kids!

I contacted Don, hoping to receive a few free tickets for us to raffle off as prizes for the kids for working hard all week. Don surprised us in a BIG way when he offered a Buy One Get One ticket for EVERY student in our school---that's over 400 kids!!

As another added bonus, today the kids got to meet some drivers and see some cars in person. A huge thank you to Tyler Ratajczyk and Paul Roider for bringing their cars for the kids to see, and a huge thanks to them and Tim Ratajczyk for signing MANY autographs all afternoon! It was definitely a great way for the kids to end the week and one they will remember for a while- the kids had a blast!

Hopefully, some new faces will be hooked on racing very soon! :D

Tri-City, Belle-Clair and Highland come on here and do a fair job of representing their tracks on the internet. Occasionally they even answer questions posed from the drivers and fans. How come you never hear a word from the folks at I-55?

Another great way to get kids and adults in the stands would be to donate tickets to area high school After Prom events. My daughter, Cathy Bess, suggested this as a great way to get kids to attend the races. She said that lots of Belleville area students know about the racetrack in Belleville but have never attended a race there. There are 3 area high schools in Belleville and they all have After Prom events! This could be extended to other area schools, too, like Columbia, Waterloo, Gibault, and Mascoutah.

I didn't mean to dislike this post, Debbie.. Sorry, I moved the mouse to fast when I clicked.. I LIKE THIS POST.. repeat.. I LIKE THIS POST...! I sent Don a message last year about doing this kind of stuff with the schools! Glad it worked out so well..! Keep it up...!

That is good to get the kids interested in racing. Thanks to all that helped out and hopefully it will put a few fans in the seats on a regular basis. Racing is good for everyone. Nice job by all.

Donnie is a class act. He had great support in Miss Dorothy an the rest of the crew. He does understand the fans point of view and the racers point of view. When it comes to racing you will be hard pressed to find a greater fan and a better supporter than Donne and Dorothy Hoener. Keep up the good work sir and mam. Big Paul
