(8/19/07) -- As August comes to a screeching halt, the UNSANCTIONED NATIONAL RANKINGS clientele invade the great state of Tennessee, just as HURRICANE EARL sets to invade the CAT-DADDY coast of the runner-up spot in the National Conference Championship. Earl Pearson Jr. tallied a big Friday victory with his LUCAS OIL series in Illinois, but came up short (by one position - in
6th) on Saturday nights touring series weekend finale in Indiana. The victory accompanied by Clint Smith fifth place finish (worth double points) at the STAKKED 10 event in Batesville, Arkansas, has poised # 44 DUEL for the mid-week event at THE GAP on Thursday. The NEWPORT NIGHTMARE Jimmy Owens inched ever so close to his first NCC TOP 5 and now is the clear leader of the second handful of RANKINGS racers over Chub Frank and Steve Francis.
Francis corralled a third in the JACKSON 100 Saturday, which ties the KENTUCKY COLONEL with his WORLD of OUTLAW LATE MODEL series BEAST FROM THE EAST companion for 7th.

The ICE-MAN cometh... Jimmy Mars, who seemed to be leading THE LEGION OF DOOM RANKINGS around the TOP 20, knocked down some major league traction and up into the TOP 10 Saturday, pocketing the $46,000 TOPLESS 100 paydirt and the 100 double points in the white # 28 "Deppe Enterprises, T.L. Sinz Plumbing, Keyes Chevytown Chevrolet" sponsored MasterSbilt, Pro Power racing engined, Chevrolet Monte Carlo racecar. The RANKINGS mob-boss BLACK SUNSHINE was shut-out of the STAKKED 10 event in Batesville, as was hometown favorite and Wendall Wallace. All will be in Tennessee this week for the 3-Day $20,000., to win SCORCHER 100, in the TEAM ZERO backyard. Then Saturday wraps up August with LOD series at Bluegrass Speedway, in Kentucky, while the WoOLM series hits the state of Ohio at KC Raceway. Also Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, North Carolina is holding a $10,000 event that could produce many Southern Regional Conference points.

Does anyone know what the chance is of Earl coming back to Tri-City for the make-up date for the FedEx 50? That date is open on his schedule and the Lucas Oil schedule. Any info will be appreciated.
