Lebanon,Mo.-Drama and last lap finishes were the top on the Sat Night Special Shootout at the LebanonMidwaySpeedway as over 80 race teams checked in for this special event.
The MidWest Regional Fastrack LateModels made there first apperance to the midway and as the field took the green, current point leader Joe Morris grabbed the early lead followed by Scott Hutchinson,Chuck Still,Terry James, and Matt Filkins. On lap 2 the only yellow waved as Brad Murphy found himself against the frontstretchwall ending his night. On the restart,Hutchinson jumped up on the top as Morris kept it down low.On lap 6,Danny Jolly found the high groove and started a strong charge to the front from 6th place. With Morris setting a quick pace,Hutchinson cooled his tires abit and then started a charge to the highside.Behind the lead duo battle,Jolly was using the top groove in the corners and started relling in the leaders while Still,James, and Matt Dusablon were battling. On lap 19,Hutchinson caught leader Morris in lapped trafic and pulled again to the highside and grabbed the lead to only have Morris take it back in turn 3.As the leaders hit lapped traffic,it was Morris who again pulled out to a 5 car length lead with Hutchinson set to make a charge. With 1 to go,Morris stayed low on the hub and caught a battle in fornt of him slowing his progress.Hutchinson shot to the top groove again and all but caught leader Morris. As the duo headed to the checkered out of turn 4,Hutchinson planted his right rear on that top cushion and shot alongside of leader Morris as the duo headed to the flagstand. As they crossed the stripe,Hutchinson nosed ahead under the checkered flag to gather his second win followed by Morris,Danny Jolly,Chuck Still, and Matt Dusablon as 10 of the original 17 finished on the lead lap.
"This was awesome"exclaimed Hutchinson."When we got here today,a storm had moved through and knocked the track out of power. The track was alittle rough in turn 2,but during the break,Mr.Armstrong smoothed it out, and with the other classes running before us,it worked the track out perfect. This place is neat and the response from the fans for the Fastrack Cars were great,we hauled over 4 1/2 hours to get here and we felt the trip was fun for all.
In the FactoryStock feature, track point leader Randy Berry jumped to the early lead with Bobby Ratterree,Robbie Bryant,Tim Brown, and Todd Cook battling behind.Cook would pull out with problems early as Berry,Brown and then Ratterree battled behind.A lap 8 caution bunched the field up as Bryant was making a strong charge as Ratterree took control and then The "HotRod Camaro" of Tim Brown grabbed the top side and shot to the lead.Contender Bryant went to the pits on lap 11 as did Justin Stoufer, just as the red flew for the ambulance to head to the grandstands to treat a couple of fans.On the restart,Brown and Ratterree battled again, but it was Brown claiming the 400 to win feature followed by Ratterree,Tony Jackson Jr,Stoufer, and Travis Hill.
The Bomber feature provided another great show as Missy Shaw lead the field to the green with Landon Johnson following closely. On lap 4,rookie driver Tyler Brown moved quickly to the front as Mike Williams followed.Brown would stay clean as Johnson challanged lap after lap.On lap 7,Johnson looped it on the backstretch ending his strong run. This moved Williams into second as Robert White was now moving forward from deep in the field. As the checkered flew, second generation driver Brown captured his first ever A Feature followed closely by Mike Williams,Robert White,Dale rodden, and Sheldon Stoufer with his best run of the season.
The 100 lap Enduro feature had the track watered down before the feature event. As the field took the green in the 3 wide start,Matt Hazel jumped form his front row pole spot to lead the opening lap.Quintin Day moved to the top side of the wet track and grab the lead, then Dave Armstrong took his 4 cylinder to the bottom and would lead Around lap 7,Brian Monahan who started 14th,grabbed the lead and was checking out. With cars sliding around and trying to find a spot on the track to grab traction,Monahan had things under control as he had lapped the field around lap 50.Early race contenders Shawn Williams and Dale Roper Jr. went out with problems on lap 60 after Williams had rode along distance on only 3 tires.Around lap 65,Mark Eagleburger had his Plymouth making some moves as he found a top line that worked for him and was working on unlapping himself from leader Monahan.Another contender Billy Waters went out after moving into the top 5 past the halfway point. On lap 69,Eagleburger unlapped himself as only 2 cars were on the lead lap at that time.Quintin Day was trying to get himself into contention and was bening shown in third 1 lap down with Matt Stephens and Hazel battling for position.Lap 72 would see the Eagle soaring high as he took over the lead and opened up a half a lap lead.Lapped traffic played in the role later as Monahan would run down leader Eagleburger and take back the lead on lap 92.Day was trying hard to get into the lead lap and had his car withing striking distance of the leaders, still 1 lap down.Monahan had traffic in front of him on lap 95, and Eagleburger relled him in.On lap 98,Eagleburger grabbed the top spot as Day moved around Monahan and then leader Eagleburger to get back on the lead lap.As the checkered flew,Monahan made a last lap effort, but fell just short as Eagleburger became the 3rd different Enduro winner this season followed by Monahan,Day all on the lead lap.Track rules say the track can buy the top 2 cars,as Monahan refused to sell moving Day up to 2nd with Matt Stephens,Matt Hazel, and Steve Shaw completing the top 5 sharing the 2500 purse as Eagleburger claimed the 1000 to win prize.
Next Weekend another double-header as Friday Night will find regular racing and Sat Night the O'ReillyAutoParts MLRA SuperLateModels will battle along with the Modifieds,FactoryStocks,And Bombers
