I-55 Raceway....??

Why don't you take over the track for sale in southern Missouri. Malden or something like that.

This is a good idea ... but the little "goodie bag" with just a "cheap" (not such a thing) something in it with a logo ... $1 a piece?? ... $5000 ... $2.00 a piece?? ... $10,000. You can't fill a goodie bag for a few $$. It is easier said than done to find volunteers to do the work ... most work full time jobs (including EVERYONE from the track itself) and NO one wants to work for free. If you would like to volunteer your time and/or money to make this happen please give me a call.

Mark

Did they bulldoze it? I thought there was one for sale down here somewhere

Not exactly bull dozed, but equipment was sold and I think the track was leveled and property put up for sale.
Benton was sold and there is an ad at top of these pages that it's for lease.

Pens--5000 for $1150.00 (and if you really wanted to go super cheap, you can get them for as little as 11 cents a piece for a cost of $550.00)

Chip clips? You got me on that one, I couldn't find one for less than .46 a piece which is cost prohibitive to include.

Total cost per bag? You could do it for as little as 0.27 cents per bag.

The rest is paper and printing, and you can do that at home for the cost of some laser cartridges, your time to put it together and enlisting Mr. Dearing or someone else with some basic design skills in photoshop or whatever to put something together for you. Not everything has to cost a fortune you know. You can use a little ingenuity and get creative to make it happen.

So you have a "distribution" problem too? Well, how about this. Ask you racers to take 50 bags and hang them on their neighbors doors. Or better still, ask your racers to show up at the track on a Saturday morning around 9 some weekend in late March or early April, hand them each 100 bags and a map and ask them to go promote THEIR sport to THESE communities to fill the stands to watch THEM race. (oh, and before you shoot that down, have you tried talking to them, asking them if they would be willing, for the sake of boosting attendance at THEIR track if they would be willing to "volunteer" 4 hours of their time one Saturday to promote their track? Oh, you haven't? Then don't tell me it won't work.)

I could have summed up your entire reply in one sentence. "That'll never work." Followed by the list of all the stuff that you can think of to shoot it down.

I have never listened to the critics in my entire life. It's the reason why I have done so much instead of letting other people tell me it can't be done and why. I find solutions to problems, I don't sit around figuring out ways things won't work. Find a way to make it work.

Good luck, Mark.

Ok 99, You "disagree."

Let's hear your ideas.

Would you like to see the business plan/proposal I wrote 12 years ago for Benton to reopen it and get it operational?

3 year deal, no lease, no money for the property but the idea was to go in and get it operating as a track for three years, see if it could be turned into a profitable operation at no cost to the owners. If we could get it functioning as a profitable race track, after three years they got it back and could do whatever they wanted with it or sell it to the guys I was with then. We walked the whole property, looked at the drag strip, checked out the dirt track, grandstands, facilities, checked out the dirt bike/motocross section.

Spent about three hours there. Then wrote a proposal over a couple of weeks of meetings that we sent to them seeing if they would be interested in doing something with it on those terms rather than let it sit idle and rot some more. I am not financially flushed to be able to risk that kind of money, however the people I was there with were. We got turned down by the "then" owners, they wanted lease money on top of investment into the facility. So basically they wanted to cut your throat before you made a dime out of it as a racetrack, and all we were asking for was three years use of the place at no cost to them to see if we could make it fly then talk money.

They said no. I don't know who owns it now, not interested.

Lol. I'm guessing Patience Tester that you have no idea who Marks44 is or you would know that they know everything there is to running a successful business. Every business small and large are struggling the past several years. As we see every day with more and more chain businesses closing down in many locations. Race tracks are struggling the same. But it's people fight to keep a place that we like to spend our summer weekends. Just be thankful or even offer a helping hand that would be the thing to do. It seems like every one has an opinion but no one wants to offer what it's going to take. And that's to offer a helping hand. Imagine how far the track could go if everyone offered just a little of their time.
