Last I heard this was called dirt track racing. Not mud track racing or baja mudding which is what it is most of the time.Lay off the water. You dont need to cut the track up untill about june.About 2 laps with the water truck is all that is needed.Come on Ray,less water, less water.

the moisture all week is what caused the track to be the way it was sat. Were you at klms a couple weeks ago when the late model feature was just a train of cars driving around the track? CHOO CHOO With good weather during the week i-55 has a track that gets dry slick for the features but still has a little bit of cushion at the top.
Don't start crying after the first week.

This weekend I'm sure you'll be griping that the sprints take too long. And the weekend after that, probably about the food prices or something similar. In about six or eight weeks, you'll be complaining about not putting down enough water and the track being too dry and dusty. If you are that miserable when you go, stay home. Save the seats for the real race fans.

That goes for the rest of you constant whiners on here too. I'm tired of constantly seeing someone gripe about track conditions.

If Ray and Kenny would ask the drivers what they would prefer I think most of them would say a smooth track wet or dry. My own thought, is a drier track is normally a smoother track it might slow down the speeds but it increases the passing and racing thought out the night along with a wider track to race on. When you only have one groove on the track(due to too much water or holes and ruts) it makes for a long night of racing for both the fans and the racers and many torn up cars. And as for as the people who says Ray would let you work and water the track, they(Ray and Crew) have been at it for several years now so we except them to get it right more then they get it wrong.

Most of the race tracks in the midwest are going to be rough this time of the year.
I like watching wide open racing ( fast!)
To me that's much better then that boring dry slick dust bowl when i pay my money and can't see a thing.
thank you:)

WELL SAID MOUNTAINMAN!!!!!!

HEY MOONFLOW, NOT EVERYBODY COMPLAINING IS A "FAN" IN THE STANDS. SOME OF THE PEOPLE ON THIS VERY POST ARE PARTICIPANTS. THEY HAVE A LITTLE MORE INVESTED IN THIS THAN THE 10 BUCKS YOU PAID TO SIT IN THE STANDS.

I JUST LOVE ALL THE I55 FAITHFUL THAT ACT LIKE IT IS AGAINST THE RULES TO HAVE A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE JOINT.

LETS SEE, THE PEPSI NATIONALS. BAD HOLE PROBLEM IS TURN 4 CAUSED ABOUT 15 FLATS. SPORTSMAN NATIONALS WAS A SOUP BOWL UNTIL INTERMISSION DUE TO TOO MUCH WATER AND NO MODS OR LATE MODELS TO HELP BLOW IT OFF. THE NOV 12TH MOD SHOW. DRYER AND SLICK I THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD SHOW!!!!!! LATE WEEK 2 FOOT RUTS. THATS THE LAST 4 SHOWS.

TRACK PREP IS A CRAP SHOOT AT TIMES. BUT HOW ABOUT HOLDING BACK ON THE WATER. YOU CAN ALWAYS ADD MORE. BUT YOU CAN'T TAKE IT AWAY.

MAYBE CURT BENEDICT SHOULD BE HIRE TO DO TRACK PREP. HE DOES A GOOD JOB AT BELEVILLE. AND WITH A HECK OF A LOT LESS FANCY EQUIPTMENT.

If you remember correctly, for the Pepsi Nationals, there was nearly 3" of rain 2 days before the show. Tri-City cancelled because even WITHOUT WATERING THE TRACK, they couldn't get it into shape. And Ray hardly put any water on the track. I know, I was there when gates opened.

How many times have you seen Ray not water the track after a big rain, and the clay be dry and dusty in hot laps?

And I'll reiterate....some people on here post a complaint every week about something at Pevely.

And if drivers have a problem, what are they doing posting it on here and not talking to Ray straight on?

Ah, someone sees the light!!!

Moonflow, How Many Motors Have You Had To Pay For Out Of Your Own Back Pocket?

How Many Nights Have You Been Up Untill 2 Am Working On The Car, Go Home Clean Up, Go To Bed, Get Up At 6am To Be At Your Job To Pay For The Car At 7am, Work Till 5pm, Go Home Change Clothes, Get Something To Eat, Then Go Back To Working On Car And Do It All Over Again?

This All Do To A Track Like This Past Weekend.

When You Start Working And Paying For This, I Believe You Have A Right To State Your Thoughts. And Ray Knows How I Feel.

Do I Go To Pevely Every Week. No Cant Afford To Fix Things. Do I Expect A Facility Like That To Have A Track That Is Smooth Over 50% Of The Time. You Bet I Do!

Guess I Am Going The Wrong 50%?

Pevely Was Snowed On And Rained On The Week Of Playday, And It Was Smooth And Slick.

Last Week It Rained And The Place Was Mudded Up And Rutted Up.
Somethings Not Right With That Pic. To Much Water And Ripping Up The Track?

You Will Never Hear Me Complain About Dust No Sir.

Thanks,

Wang!

I guess if you don't like the track then don't go to it. Then you won't have to make any posts crying about how the track isn't the way you want it. I-55 must be doing something right. Look at their car count every week.

wang i do the same thing that you do and i love racing and i guess you have been there the nights that the track did get rough 95%of the time the track is smooth wether it is tacky or dry part of the problem sat night was that that particular area was really soft and moisture was comming back up and the fast way around the track was through the ruts the track was smooth up above the ruts but nobody but a few guys would go there
anyways see you at the track

Ray has continuosly refused to listen to the racers. His late model count suffered at year end and will suffer again this year. Watch the count in a couple weeks. It will be off. Then lets see what you have to say.

Moonflow, this is america and we can complain about anything we want. You sure exercise that right!

I just can't believe that we're already having this discussion after just a single week of racing. Like other have said, it's been cold, wet, and little if any sun. Not to mention that this was the first time the track had been run on with that number of cars since last year. I'm not saying that the people with complaints are wrong, I'm just saying that we shouldn't put the cart before the horse. Give it a couple of weeks and see what happens once the weather improves and the track crew has had a couple of weeks to work with the dirt. If it don't improve by after that then ***** away!

If I was Ray I would throw all of the junkers out and race sprint cars on Friday nights. They would pack the place and get rid of all of the cry babies.

Ya that's a good idea, NOT!!! You'd never see me at I-55 again if this happened.

i would say that it was a great track besides the holes coming out of two

as they like to say "bad fast"

Yeah it was a great track. If destruction is what you want to see. Chad Sellers destroyed a car. Jeff La baube, Larry hull, and Tom Ratajczyk all need front stub work. Thats just to name a few. The conditions were crap plain and simple. Yeah some guys survived and had a good night. But sombodys gonna do it. Doesn't mean it was good.

track conditions

Nobody made anyone race on that track. If you didn't like it, load up and leave!! I didn't see any racers do that. It's funny how everyone on here complained about the track. But, I didn't see one hauler leave the track before the races started. This is still a free country, you could have loaded up any time you wanted to. So don't blame Ray Marlar for the way the track was. When temps don't get out of the fourties, Its tough to guess how the track is going to be. . This has got to be the most useless thread on here. As far a Sellars goes, didn't he have a right front go flat? It's sorry to see that happen to anyone. But I don't think you can blame that on track conditions. I was there in turn two, has was in trouble before he got to the rut. And he was above it anyways. When a track is that fast all night, something bad is going to happen, always has, always will.

Larry Hull, Tom Ratajczyk, and whoever else was in that deal wrecked in turn 3, had nothing to do with the ruts in turn 2. One of them got sideways on the back straightaway, and took a couple out. And I'm not for sure what happened with Hull in the middle of 3 and 4, but it did't have anything to do wiyh the rut in turn 2.
