IMCA,,just a thought for an exchange for UMP

The Festus Flash just summed it up for us..but i dont think some people even understand what 100% commitment even means so they probably still wont get it.

OK MY TWO CENTS , FOR ONE IF ALL YOU ARE RACING FOR IS THE MONEY YOUR NOT VERY GOOD AT MATH BECAUSE IF YOU BUILD A RACE CAR NEW FROM SCRATCH AND THE RACE EVERY WEEK YOU WOULD HAVE TO WIN EVERY RACE IN A SEASON TO PAY FOR IT SO NOT COST EFFECTIVE RACING IS NOT A JOB ITS A HOBBY FOR MOST EVERY ONE . ALL A SANCTIONING BODY DOES IS RUN RULES AND KEEP RULES IN ORDER NOW AS FAR AS TECH GUYS WELL DIDNT SEE ANY MORE OR LESS AT TRACKS BUT WOULDNT NEED THEM IF PEOPLE DIDNT FEEL THE NEED TO PUSH RULES TO THE OUTER LIMIT WHO WANTS TO SEE THE SAME GUY WIN EVERY WEEK ANYWAY NOT THIS GUY. I DO RACE WHEN I CAN AFFORD TO AND I HAVE FUN DOIN IT BUT ALL THE EXTRA STUFF THAT WE PAY FOR THESE DAYS MAKES RACING MORE OF A CHORE THAN A HOBBY I.E. MEMBERSHIP FEES . SO IN CLOSING IF YOU WANT TO RACE AS A JOB AND THINK YOU CAN MAKE IT GO FOR IT BUT OTHERWISE LETS JUST HAVE FUN AND RACE.

Less than 10 drivers got away with racing UMP more than twice without a membership. UMP dropped certain class sanctioning at tracks last year that didn't enforce the membership rules.

I call BS! I know of atleast 3 that raced Jacksonville more then twice and also Macon!

I had a question about something similure last year and called UMP myself. I talked to a guy named Dave. I'm withholding his last name on purpose. Anyway, I was told at that time that if a track didn't double check for Valid UMP memberships it didn't really matter much because they would be verified at UMP before posting official points anyway. They have hundreds of tracks running from 1 night a year to three times a week and it would be impossible and impractical to to enforce that rule or to hold a track accountable. . Secondly, Dave said at that time of conversation he has never known or heard of UMP "dropping" its sanctioning from any track. It's just not something they do. I got the impression but didn't get a direct confirmation that UMP doesn't have the "policing force nor the funds to hold accountability". They don't have the man power to do that effectively.
Sounds like a form of the honor system to me. Corruption can happen anywhere. I personally feel UMP does a fair job but funds and the many factors that must go into a national sanctioning must make it very very difficult to do perfectly.

Call them out. Provide names.

About 50% of the drivers at Fayette County were non-UMP members. I checked some names from the run down of the UMP points. The only reason why it is not higher than that, is because the other 50% race somewhere else that requires a membership. I raced at 7 different tracks last year, and was only checked at 2. Hate to call out my local track. But the truth is the truth. Lincoln Speedway Jacksonville Speedway, and Clay County are no different.

I am all for UMP doing what they say they do. JUST DO IT! What is fair for one, should be fair for all. IMCA is far from perfect, but it obviously is doing something right.

if imca was so great why aren't there more tracks going that way Ump must doing something right also their track numbers are growing also

I know that lincoln speedway did ask random drivers because my cousin was asked to show his membership card. I know of another driver who was told if he did not get one he could not run at the track again until he did but, he was allowed to run that night. I'm not going to say that some did not run here without one because I'm sure they did but, they were the lucky ones who did not get asked.

As far as UMP they do not do enough for the lower classes plain and simple. I can understand them asking for drivers to buy a membership but, at least give them something back and I guarantee more will sign up. If they would just make sure that every car is on the same page by teching these car like they said they would. Have a big race for the guys at least a couple of times a year.

Last Chance for UMP points before Eldora! This Saturday September 28th @ Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway!
The 12th Annual "Bud Pohle Memorial" AARA Fall Nationals takes on a New look. In an attempt to widen the fan base the UMP Late Models , Modifieds & B- Mods (racing under the Highland rule package also allowing E-85 fuel) have been added to the program and will race for normal weekly purses while the Sportsman, PureStocks & Pro 4's will race for Great Purses with Sportsman still being the featured Race!.

We decided to make it more economical for all of the Racer's and have Eliminated all Entry Fees!

By doing so the purse structure has changed some and is not so top loaded but alot of the middle positions actually pay more in all classes!

Pit gate will open 12:00 pm and tech will begin around 1:00 pm (Tech will take place at your pit stall) Grandstands open at 4:00 pm Hot laps 5:20 pm and Racing at 6:00 pm !!

  1. Adults $15 Grandstands Kids 12 & under FREE as always
  2. $35 pits NO ENTRY FEE'S!!!
  3. Kid’s 6-12 $20 5 & under FREE

Tracks don't have to ask you for your membership card to know if you are a member. UMP provides each track a list of members each week.

In 2014, if a UMP track allows someone to race more than twice without a membership, UMP will make that track pay for that membership before they get UMP points for that event.

Jimmy. If what you said holds to be true. I will support that. That is what the way it should be.

My complaint is, if I run third to 2 other people that never have bought a membership, I will always be getting third place points. The track, by not making them buy a membership, is hurting me and my final points. It is all fair to me if they buy the membership and I run third. But they should make them buy it as well.

Unfortunately no one from Fayette, Clay Co or Charleston took the time to even come to the promoters meeting with UMP in Springfield last week. The promoters from most all other Illinois tracks that are UMP were there.

As far as hurting you by affecting your final points, that is true. You may race at a track a get no UMP points if that track doesn't conform.

I hope Fayette is going to be ump I enjoy running there more than other tracks that are close to me. I bought my membership but seemed that I was missing about 3 races last year

How many nights a week did the people who won the top awards run? Most guys in today's real world can only run 1 night a week. Curious to see how many 1 nighters won anything. Just wondering

It is based on number of nights raced total.. But as an example, Jon Ripperda only raced 24 nights (which could be considered one night a week) and won the Sportsman national championship..

Also, Jason Worley only raced 25 nights to win the Factory Stock national championship.

I'm just curious if Ump is also going to make these track enforce UMP rules at each of these UMP tracks. If they are going to make sure they have a membership they then should also make sure they are following the rules they have on paper or what good does it to even have rules. If they don't then all they really care about is getting the money.

and if a track does that to people who are members that's bs and why would anyone go back to that track . take my points cuz someone else didn't join membership lol so who does that hurt me,the track or ump

well its proven that u can bring in unsanctioned class' s and run and ump cant say or do anything,,dirt divas at granite,,600cc and outlawmicros at bel clare,, I just hope this is what happens with b mods they don't need ump, ump will destroy the class , correct me if im wrong but I don't think u have to be ump member to run those classes and they r running at a ump track, if that's because they are part time classes well I guess bmods that run granite don't have to join ump right
