Independence day weekend day two at Montgomery County Speedway

NEW FLORENCE, MO (July 4th) –- Day two of Montgomery County Speedway’s Independence Day Weekend Spectacular featured lots of cars and lots of classes and lots of action.

The Fastrak Midwest Regional Late Model series was on hand to help celebrate the weekend and to provide great racing action for the fans. The fans would not be disappointed. The Fastrak Midwest Regional Late Model Series provided an exciting evening of close racing action with lots of side by side action during the action in the Freedom 25.

Joe Morris won his heat, the dash and appeared to be on his way to his 2nd Fastrak Late Model when at Montgomery County Speedway until Kevin Poole decided to run the middle groove to take the lead and pick up the win the Freedom 25.



Following Poole to the line was Joe Morris, Scott Hutchinson, Terry James, and Joey Morris.



In the UMP Miller A-Modified division Rusty Griffaw returned to take control of the evening. After winning his heat, Rusty took the green and went to the top to ride the cushion to capture the win.



Following Rusty to the line was Leroy Haney, Mike Vanderiet, Jr., Terry Cox, and J.D. Rottler.



In the B-Modified division Craig Roden picked up his 6th feature event of the season at Montgomery County Speedway. Craig had an easy win besting Jerry Dean, Tim O’Brien, Randy Dickman, and A. J. Ingrande.



There will be a $100 bounty on Craig Roden to anyone that can beat Craig Roden in a B-Modified feature event at Montgomery County Speedway.



The Pepsi Super Street division, the brothers Lowry was the big story. In the feature event Ed Lowry took the high road, and his brother Buddy took the low road running side by side for the entire feature event. Buddy was able to make the low side work to his advantage to win his first feature win of the season at Montgomery County Speedway.



Following Buddy Lowry to the line was Ed Lowry, Kent Nations, Greg Reeves and Jim Pelster.



The RAMS Mini Stock division action saw Dave Wofford, Jr’s. win streak come to an end, as Shannon Burch was able to lead start to finish in the Firecracker 25. Shannon Burch was able to hold off a hard charging Dave Wofford to pick up the 25 lap victory.



Chasing Shannon Burch to the line was Dave Wofford, Jr., Wes Kintz, Rob Denny and Butch Hartman.



The $100 bounty on Dave Wofford, Jr. was paid to Shannon Burch.



In Southern Missouri Dwarf Car Association action John Leahy, cruised to victory. John Leahy easily defeated Jeff Asher, Dustin Wadlow, Ron Wick and Justin Buchholz to pick up the feature event.



A large group of Vintage Race Cars were on hand to mark the inaugural Vintage Car Race at Montgomery County Speedway. Ken Rumble took an evening off from his UMP Late Model to drive a roadster for the event.



Ken Rumble had the hot hand as he won his heat race and ran a wild seat of the pants driving exhibition in the feature event. Ken Rumble was able to lead from start to finish lapping most of the field.



Racing resumes at Montgomery County Speedway on July 9th.
