Infield pits at I-55

Infield pits

There is one way they could pit inside the track and everybody can still see. They could just have the cars and the main things needed such as tires, tools fuel, etc. and park the haulers outside of the track. I went to the Knoxville Nationals in 95 and that's how they pitted. This could be an option for infield pitting and not obstructing the view of the fans.

until they allow the really big rigs in the infield,i dont see the problem.
for the most part, the infield is taken up by drivers with open trailers and small enclosed trailers.if they let the guys with the big rigs in there,i can see where that would be a problem, havent seen that as yet. but i have seen the in field rutted to a point where it just wouldnt be smart to pit there, and ussually,no one pits there. a little more room on the infield might be desireable fot staging
the next race, but that left up to the track promoter. i dont see anything wrong with the way 55 does this, its one of the few tracks where thie is possible. dont change a thing!

{{:)Great idea:)}} You can still have everyone in the infeild that already pits down there minus truck & trailer, that way the fans can still see certain people, you'll have more room for lining up, going across the scales, an everyone can see! But then you have the issue of you know someone will complain that they forgot something at the trailer (pitted outside) or they dont want to carry it all down there..
Cant make everyone happy.... Everyone has dif views :)

That would not work, there is only one way in and out for the rigs, it would be a cluster on the access road to the pit entrance.

Also, there are a lot of trailers with built in toolboxes, air and generators. The trailers now days are built with a lot of the ammenities built into them.

I hear what you're saying but if the Outlaws can pit inside a track and haulers outside then I think everybody else could manage. It can be done just getting everyone use to it.

The Outlaws crews only come in the infield for that race and then go back out. Which only helps make the night even longer.

Follow up

At Knoxville they pit in the infield without the haulers and no they don't go out after their race is over. I know what you are talking about but as of right now they pit outside of the track, we are talking actually pitting in the infield, not just having the crews down in the infield during their race.

About the only way to make everyone happy would be to grade the infield down about 4 - 5 feet.lol That ought to get the big trailers below line of sight.

They can take all the dirt and build a 1/4 midget track.
