Interest in Mt. Vernon????????????

There is the possibility that Mt. Vernon could be opened this season. There is someone who is seriously thinking about leasing the track. They would like to know how much interest there would be in running Mt. Vernon on a Friday or Sunday night? The classes would include Crate Late Models, UMP Mods., UMP Street Stocks and Hornets. If there is enough interest UMP Sportsman. On occassion they would like to also have special UMP Late Model Shows. If this track and any of the nights would interest you, please post.

Thanks

Though not especially happy with the way things have worked out since the end of last year, we would prefer Mt. Vernon on the basis of proximity.

MVN Raceway

First of all everyone knows most the time that the UMP Super Late Models and UMP Modifieds are the main shows which I'd agree with but the way it should be then have all classes running instead of just what people could call a quarter of a show. I for one thought of wanting to at least be a partial owner but there would always be a full show and the track would stay maintained. no jokes either. Yeah I know I'm just 25 what can I do your a young one and no one would more than likely take you serious. i tried finding out who runs it now but with no one stepping up to the plate and giving an actual name or number to reach him at then its just a bit hard to get it open and keep it open with full shows and all classes with extra classes added at times. let me know how to reach someone and i'll call them no jokes.
Thanks

That would really be a slap in the face to run on Sunday! Friday, you are losing cars to Granite and Paducah. Also I say, GOOD LUCK.

Dusty, call Ricks towing in Mt.Vernon 618-242-4500 ask to speak to Rick or Bev. I would go on Friday! Brownstown,IL already has dibs on Sunday nights,so I say GO for the Friday night show!

Why not race on Saturday... There would be no cars in attendence on Friday because of P.I.R, Granite, and Belleville they pretty much have Friday nights covered.. I would also like to see a full show at Mvn but look at what they avg. last year with the super late models...yeah about 10...They dont want to come to Mvn, why because of the lack of consistency!!! One week they're running and the next they're not, one week they're racin for $1000 the next they're racing for 6 or 7 hundred...

mt vernon

I'm just getting into the racing scene and was really hoping for the return of Mt. Vernon Raceway.Location reasons you know. I have a hard time believing that with all the racers in this area and race fans that this track wouldn't be a success on saturday nights if itwas ran and promoted properly

We would be open for saturday night only. Friday night after working all day dont work. Sunday night I dont like cause I have to work the next morning. maybe I'm getting too old, but Saturday is it.
As mentioned before, consistancy is what is needed.
Mt. Vernon dont need UMP Sportsman. Our steet stocks are close enough.
The current class configuration is perfect. These classes offer diversity for both the fans and racers.
Time constraints prevent too many classes from running. How many times last year did we exceed the so called 10:30 limit? Too Many.
The facility at Mt. vernon is very nice. Go to any other facility around and you see that. The bleachers could use some help, but the Heck family has done an outstanding job at maintaining a nice facility.
This is my sugestion:
If the problem at Mt. Vernon is money, then the management should ask the racing community for help. I am sure by all of us "regulars" that attend, that we can come up with the money to make this track open every Saturday night.
What we want for our money is to run every Saturday night---JUST AS THE SCHEDULE DICTATES. if its a $2,000.00 to win Mod show, then pay those boys the money. CONSISNTACY with the payout and schedule.
So if they need money, then ask. Ask in a way that we know we are asked, not though stlracing.com, but maybe direct mailers, they do have our addresses.
Or maybe, though the use of there own website?
If there are 50 regulars ready to go, how much do each of us need to pay? I'll pay my fair share. I want an exact dollar amount required.

mt. vernon racing.

its going to take a fat wallet from a person who loves racing,to get the track back to running on a regular basis. Heres the real problem. there is already to many tracks within 2-4 hours of each other, running on fri- sun.that spreads the CARS and the FANS, out. and the cost to see a race from a fans view, hes going where the best show is , the cars are going where they know they are going to get to race and get paid good. mt.vernon is going to be like GODFREY very soon .... have a nice day:)

Thanks for all your replies and thoughts . We would like to hear some more. Charlie Depew is the person interested in running the track. That is why we need to see what day is best for the racers and fans. If you would like to give him a call his # is 618-347-2327.
