PEVELY, Mo. — Aug. 4, 2012 — A severe storm slammed the Federated Auto Parts Ironman 55 presented by Summit Distributing/Coors Light on Saturday night.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event was completed under a shortened program at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55. All races were finished except the final event, which was staged on the track when a downpour and lightning closed in on the area. Local authority warned of the severity of the storm and measures were immediately taken for the safety of the spectators and teams.
The Federated Auto Parts Ironman 55 main event will be contested as part of the program during the World of Outlaws appearance at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 on Saturday, Oct. 13. Ticket holders for the October show will get to watch two feature programs for their admission.
Kerry Madsen won his fourth dash of the season to earn the pole for the famed event with fellow Australian James McFadden on the outside of the front row.
Kraig Kinser established quick time in qualifying to open the night, and Craig Dollansky, Dale Blaney and Donny Schatz each claimed a heat race.
Next up, the World of Outlaws venture to Knoxville, Iowa, for the $150,000-to-win, 52[SUP]nd[/SUP] annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals next Wednesday through Saturday.

So... As far as tonight's show, your tickets are no good for the 13th?
If you were at races tonight and want to see the 55 lap feature, you have to buy a ticket for Oct 13, correct?

You people that didn't go never missed anything. Heat races were all follow the leader.......Don't know why a lot of people get so excited over them?

It's all about the feature at the Ironman. When those cars get in traffic, to me, there's nothing like it. I understand the decision, but it is a bummer because we all buy the tickets FOR the Ironman 55 feature. One thought I had is why not run the feature in at 3:00p on October 13 allowing all with tickets from last nights race back in, then empty the facility and have everyone come back in at 6:00p for the new full event. Seems like the Cardinals did something like that one time for a make up rainout.

Honestly calling this a full race? It was all follow the leader, there was no racing going on. The racing was the Features, everyone knows this when it comes to bug races. This is very unfortunate to the thousands of fans that came out and endured the rain for an HOUR before making the call we all knew the track would. The 50/50 could have been announced also, but was not. Just wait, wait, stick around, wait, O' now you can go home now?

well thats the chance you take at a outdoor event like a dirt track. things happen like rain. its like a poker game, sometimes ya win sometimes you lose your a???. but you will go to another race some where. and take the chance again. have a good day everyone. look at the bright side they did not cancel the races for the heat. boy that would put a strain on jimmys site.

Placing this from a similar thread.
they did rework track it needed it but was pretty early in night and they were doin best to get it in before the storm

I think big swig is saying you are not allotted many luxuries when the weather was predicted to have sever storms between 8pm-9pm. Re-working the track, running modified class first, running the mod semi prior to the woo feature and having no sense of urgency through the night until it became obvious (lightning/thunder) lead to a very disappointing night. Although the skies looked decent, the weather reports were telling a whole different story. I am surprised they didn't say right from the start we are getting reports that severe weather may be coming our way. We are going to roll through this program to do our best to get the Ironman 55 in the books. Never heard or seen any action to support this until the very end which was way too late.

I don't think the National Anthem was completed until 8:20 or so - Sprints hit the track around 9PM. So you have a packed house that paid a premium ticket price and this is what you get in return: a rain out, a "completed" race program, a few short runaway heat races, no "55" feature race that you came to see, no small discount good for the next Woo race, a free pit pass, a free admission to a regular night of racing, a small sodeee or even a biscuit. What you do get is a chance to see an extra feature in October for only...... $32-$35! Not such a good deal for the fans - especially the traveling fans. SUPER GREAT DEAL for the new ticket buyer in October, Woo and I-55. So what happens if this event is cancelled in October?

I understand race programs are completed after X amount of races, but good PR and good faith efforts are usually made in special event races. It sounds like this may be more woo than I-55, but it is both their event. Is this really the best decision they could have made for all the fans that packed the house? Bad PR goes a long way. Do you recall the summer nationals event at Mt. Vernon raceway? The drivers also lost in this deal - no purse payout pay tonight as well.

Here's what Pevely/WOO got tonight: Guaranteed ticket sales, half of 50/50 money, peak concession sales, & vendor rent. So it looks like they did okay last night. So are you telling us the best they can offer is a "complete" race program and the chance to see the ironman 55 at full price ticket price? Is that the best good faith effort they can put out there? I saw a suggestion of opening the gates for a early afternoon race, clear the stands, an charge regular admission for the evening race. All those are better ideas than recycle your old ticket. As you can see, I never mentioned a refund. Not in favor of it, but would like to see a better effort in accommodating the fans. I always appreciate the tracks that make a reasonable offer. It may or may not work for me, but I do appreciate the good faith they placed in the offer. That's all they can do - this decision - just not a good deal at all for the August 4th fans.

I am open to other opinions and maybe my perceptions are off - but I didn't see any urgency from the get go regarding weather concerns. There were only around 60 cars total in both classes correct? When they were re-working the track, that was an early intermission to me. The concession lines were long, the water was hot, and the ketchup was out - so they were doing well.

I did scan the facebook page. It is becoming interesting as people are checking the website to see what they are going to do for the fans. It should make for some interesting reading.

i think they should comp the fans either the woo late model show or the oct 13 th night and if i do recal tcs had 2 lucas oil shows with threating weather and made it through both with out any problems iam can speak for my self in saying that if they dont do any thing about this in the form of a comp night i will not attend any more woo events

I'm sure they won't miss you.

This is why I didnt pay 32.00 to get into the Ironman. I knew something like rain would happen and its a chance you take. We all went up to MMSP last night and they got 2 features in before the rain came down. Now would I ask Casey for a refund HELL NO. Why cuz its a chance that we took and we got rained out. You all took a chance last night and the rain won. We needed the rain bad so quit *****ing about it you payed 32.00 last night for the rain that came down.

This is because I-55 watered the track too much just like they always do. They water it way to much and there is one narrow lane where the slime has been blown off.It happens all the time. It makes for horrible racing. Had they not reworked the track after qualifying, the heat races would have been awesome. The racing grove would have been wide. Way way way too much water all the time.

I think 1/2 price woo general admission for Ironman 55 ticket holders for the Oct 13 show is a fair deal

Then you'd be on here b!tchin it was dusty..
