Jacksonville getting new promoter for 2007

I would guess that it means that they'll have to think about taking off the wings and heading to Indiana to run.

I just wonder how many LMs J-ville will get with Tri City and Farmer City running on Fridays. And aren't most of the LMs in West Central Illinois and South Eastern Iowa more of the IMCA spec engine rule variety?

I also wonder what they'll run for support classes. Mods would be the obvious choice for one support class. But what about the third class? Jacksonville treated the micros like crap so they could have plausible deniabillity when they dropped them this season. But how many pony stocks (hornets) did they get weekly? I know they barely had a dozen this past Friday.

From what I heard at Jacksonville on Friday night is that they are going to run UMP late models, UMP street stocks and UMP modifieds plus hornets. The hornets actually had their lowest car count of the year of 16 (a little more than a dozen) on friday. By my math 16 is still 10 cars more than the micros brought in on their best night. Plus Farmers City had a $1,500 to win show on Friday where they had 92 hornets. I would say that the hornets probably averaged somewhere around 24 or 25 cars per night.

i personnaly dont thinik it will have much impact on Farmer City because it didnt make that big of impact this year with jacksonville running mods and street stocks for the first time. yea they lost a few cars but both tracks still had good car counts.
my biggest concern is if Bill will still have a car for Joe Ross Jr. to drive next year. have always been a fan of Joe Sr. and i can remember when Joe jr was racing sportsmans at macon.
this is a good thing for jacksonville. i hate no sprints, that really ****s, but if thats what it takes to keep this track open, then thats what it takes. i love the sprints but i also know it takes a big fan base and good car counts in all divisions to support a 410 sprint car program.
good luck Bill.

The reason why we never showed up much at Jacksonville was they paid us peanuts. Granted we will race for pizza and soda but when you say your going to pay x amount of dollars to the winner and we show up and have 16 cars and they cut the pay when its already low. Most people wont show back up. We went and ran somewere else instead of there.

maybe they should have the sprints as another class to race at least bi weekly. Maybe late models, modifieds, sportsman, then hornets and sprints every other week alternate, at least the sprints would still be racing this way, kind of like the cars race at least once a month at certain tracks, or maybe wortk something out with other tracks to run them once a month there. JMO.

Its nice to hear that jacksonville is going to be running next year again, I would like to contact the promoter or have the promoter contact me. I would be interested in working at the track, I have worked there in the past and at 5 other tracks in the area. I have been associted with racing for 40 years now and have been an official for over 30 of those years. call me or leave me a private message and I will get back to you thank you .

2007 Jacksonville Speedway Info.

About the 2007 Jacksonville Raceway: It will be promoted by Billy West Jr., not Bill Sr. The promotional aspect of racing is new to us but we have many years of racing experience. At this early point nothing is set in stone regarding the classes that will be ran. We have no intentions of eliminating Sprints from Jacksonville Speedway in 2007. We realize that Sprint car racing has been a large part of Jacksonvilles racing history. However, we plan on running UMP LM's, UMP Mod., S/S, and Hornets on a regular basis. The Sprint schedule has not been determined as of yet but the Sprints will still be a part of the Jacksonville Speedway. We hope to have a website up shortly and will post the address here. Any suggestions from racers and fans would be appreciated. We are very confident that we can make the improvements needed to make the Jacksonville Speedway an enjoyable racing experience for EVERYONE.

So sprints and late models every Friday night?

That would be great. I'd drive from St. Louis for that. But what I think you are saying is that sprints will be there occasionally. But how will that work? Will guys around the area get a car ready if they are only going to be racing once a month or so?

Already, not as many guys as used to tow down to Farmington.

heck they (410 sprints)only run occasionally anyways

Didn't Hobstat In Indiana run both Sprint Cars an Latemodles thay mite still do? But will the fan count an Pitt pases pay the purse? Thats at least 2000.00 off the top. AmI Wrong?

Yes, Haubstadt used to run LM and sprints. Now they only have one LM show a year, a UMP SN show.
With FAN counts what they are at most tracks it would be highly unlikely that they could run both LM and sprints weekly.

hey its great to hear that sprints will still be running, they used to do that at a track in new mexico, they rotated what class ran each week. for instance one week it might be lm and sportsman and street stock and mods them the next week it might be sprints and street stock and mods and l m etc. just rotate a class a week. that might work JMO

Shaheen's in Springfield used to run sprints and Late models on a weekly basis. However, I'm sure the payout would be too high to support both now. that doesn't seem to be what the new promoters are implying anyway. They said sprints will still be a part of J'ville speedway. They made no mention of weekly basis. They DID say that LM, Mods, and Street Stock will be on a weekly basis. I would imagine that means some big sprint shows mixed in with the regular show.
Also, I seem to remember that tri-city will NOT be UMP sanctioned since they are too close to Belleville to run the same night. Maybe that has changed but I haven't seen it. This might lure some drivers away from Tri-city that want the points. Pure guess though.
