Billy James returned to the Malden Speedway Friday night and returned to his familiar position on victory lane as he topped the Late Model division again. Robert Powers won his third straight Modified feature at the speedway. Claudie Cook picked up another checkered flag in the Hobby Stocks. Paul Reeder won in Street Stock. Justin McBroom won the featured E-Mod race. The team of Bob Merritt and Jimmy Cornell won in Cruisers.

It took three tries to get a good start on the Late Model feature, but that was the only thing that slowed down Billy James this week. James, who has dominated the Late Models in Malden, led all twenty laps to take the checkered flag again. There was a good battle for the next three spots with Joey Mack taking second. Kenny Rumble edged Steve Karnes at the finish line to take third. Kyle Beard finished fifth. Karnes and James won the heat races.

Robert Powers has become the one to beat in the Modified class at Malden.
Powers suffered most of the season with mechanical problems, but has been trouble free the past three weeks and he has three wins to show for his efforts. Powers pulled away from the field only to be brought back by the race's only caution flag on lap 13. Chris Sims and T.J. Williams got into each other coming out of turn two. Powers was attempting to lap the pair when the collision occurred, and he veered right and scraped the wall, throwing sparks into the air. The wall brush did not hurt his car as he quickly reestablished his lead. Robby Arnold rested second place from Brad Buck on lap 15, but could never challenge Powers for the lead. A lap later Buck fell to fourth as Claudie Cook overtook him coming out of turn two.
Troy Fowler rounded out the top five. Powers and Buck won the heat races.

Claudie Cook returned after a couple of weeks absence in the Hobby Stocks and piloted the 54C car to victory lane. The race opened with Greg Sparks grabbing the lead. Cook closed to his bumper by lap 3 and he made his move coming out of turn 4 to take the lead. Sparks chased after Cook and came in to turn three too hard and suffered a spin bringing a caution to the track.
Cook finished the race unchallenged for the lead from that point. Sparks battled back through the field and just edged Scott Tracer at the wire for second following a full lap of side by side racing. Darrell Kelly and Chuck Tilley rounded out the top five. Sparks and Dee Kelly won the heat races.

The race opened with Holbrook Mitchell grabbing the lead and threatening to run away and hide. Mitchell had won all three of his previous trips to the Malden Speedway and this week looked no different until trouble struck in the form of mechanical problems on lap seven. Burns took the lead and held it until McBroom took over for the win. David Hill finished third, followed by Jim Eubanks and Tim Prine. Burns and Mitchell won the heat races.
