The action at Quincy Raceways Sunday night was as hot and wild as the sponsors business, the Mark Twain Casino would ever see. Jamie Wilson, Henry Delonjay, David Weitholder and Jim Powell all took feature event wins.

Jamie Wilson scored the checkered flag in the Budweiser IMCA Late Model feature event but it was not an easy victory. Sam Halstead took over the lead on the 2nd lap when Clint Kirkham spun in front of the field in the second turn collecting the cars of Denny Woodworth, Jay Holler, Dustin Neese in the melay. Halstead first held off Joey Gower until the 8th lap when Jamie Wilson got by Gower to challenge for the lead. Wilson, whose charge through the field came from the fifth row, started pressing Halstead and finnaly made the pass for the top spot on the twelveth circuit of the 30 lapper and started to pull out a comfortable lead until the final laps. Mark Burgtorf, who came from the 6th row, made a last lap effort to take the win on the high side of turn four but fell a fender length short to give Wilson his first feature win of the season. Burgtorf had to settle for second with Joey Gower in third, Gary Russell in fourth and Halstead in fifth. Halstead, Lonnie Bailey and Jay Holler were the heat race winners with Brent Slocum taking home the hardware in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash.

Henry Delonjay had to make a mad charge throught the entire Miller Lite A-Modified feature lineup to take the feature event win. Delonjay had to retire from his heat race before the green flag as a shock absorber fell off forcing the veteran to start scratch on the field. Ted Allen jumped out to the early lead and held on to the top spot until Jim Powell got by to take the lead on the eighth lap of the 20 lap main event. Powell then kept the field at bay until the thirteenth lap when Ryan Meyer slipped by with Delonjay in tow. Delonjay challenged Meyer until the sixteenth lap when he squeezed by to take the lead and hold on for the win. Meyer settled for second with Brandon Lennox in third, Powell in fourth and Allen in fifth. Meyer and Michael Long were the heat race winners with Delonjay scoring the win in the P&S Auto and Truck Collision Repair Trophy Dash.

The B-Mods had a wild time in their feature event with the mayheim starting at the drop of the green flag. A first turn altercation caused the Five Car Rule to be invoked as at least 6 cars were involved in a crash in turn one of the first lap. The field was restarted in single file order but the yellow flag flew six more time as the 20 lapper was time limited to 18 laps. Rookie B-Mod driver, David Wietholder took over the top spot about half way through the event and held on through all the carnage to take his first B-Mod feature event win. Jim Leffew claimed second with Wyatt Lantz in third, Wes Mayfield in fourth and Bobby Cookson in fifth. Wietholder, Marty Hull and Cookson were the heat race victors.

Jim Powell took the lead in the Bomber feature event on the third circuit and held off all challengers through the next dozen laps to take the checkered flag. Bobby Uppinghouse Jr. grabbed second with Trevor Webster in third, Craig Spilker in fourth and Steve Carlin in fifth. Powell, Gary Lewis, Spilker and Larry Powell claimed the heat race wins.

The racing action heats up even more this Tuesday, June 10 when the Kenny and Kenny show comes to town. Winston Cup drivers, Kenny Schrader and Kenny Wallace will compete with the UMP Late Models and Quincy Raceways Modifieds. The UMP Late Models will be racing for points with the Quincy Raceway Modifieds and Bombers providing the support action. Gates open at 5 with hot laps at 6:30 and racing action at 7:00pm.

Regular points racing continues at Quincy Raceways next Sunday, June 15 on Heartland Auto Body Night at the Races. Gates open at 4:30 with Hot Laps at 5:45 and racing at 6:30.
