Janet Jackson Super Bowl Halftime

Statement by NFL Executive Vice President Joe Browne regarding the Super Bowl halftime show:

"We were extremely disappointed by elements of the MTV-produced Halftime show. They were totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the show. It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."

I Agree

The game was very exciting and the halftime entertainment was great but i totaly agree with them. I didnt think it was appropiate, actually i was sorta stunned by it. LeaDonna

"it wasnt intentional" "it is regrettable" are just a couple of the things Timberlake is saying about it. Yeah, right. My ***. Every girl wears chrome star pasties under her costume, right? Sure, I'll buy that. I didnt watch any of it, and I just walked back into the room long enough to see Timberlake ripping of Jacksons costume, and I thought it was just a part of the show.

I think the halftime show is now just another big ad for some popstar or other, and I dont watch it. Why not honor the Hall of Fame inductees, or some charitable cause during halftime, instead of giving these overblown ego driven megalomaniacs another 15 minutes of fame?

Justin Timberlake also said it was a costume malfunction. Well if he wouldn't have yanked at it so hard it wouldn't have came off.:D This was meant to happen and they know it. I wonder if Janet Jackson still will sing at the Grammy's this weekend?

The song lyrics at that point were something like " I will have your clothes off by the end of this song." What was the reasoning for reaching over an jerking the clothes if it were not a ripaway section and yes oh yes I am sure that Janet Jackson wears pasties all the time. Yeah right!

Now they are seeing that it backfired or they knew there would be negative press and are just putting a spin on. Some people, particularly avant garde entertainers feel that negative press is good advertizing for record sales.

One post on 4M said that this Superbowl will forever be known as Superbowl XXXVIII double D.

janet jackson

That aint no pastey that is a nipple ring with a bar bell to hold it on and I do believe it was intentional. The tv cant even be family entertainment anymore.

I fully believe it was intentional and I honestly believe CBS knew it was going to happen. That's why they had the camera zoomed out so far. I'm not buy this they didn't expect it bit at all.

And for what it's worth, I didn't mind at all.. :D

On yeah! I forgot to ask who really thinks that Janet Jackson can not afford to buy clothes that hold together better than that. There was no resistance to the pull that stitching would have given. In fact, if it were proper stitching Timberlake would not have been able to have pulled it completely off as he did. There was no resistance from the material in the pull. It was either velcroed or snaps.

Hey anytime I can see a breast that does not have colonel sanders associated with it, I am happy. What gets me is that everyone is complaining how inapproprite it was and how it did not fit the moral standards of CBS. However, did anyone listen to some of the lyrics from the other performers. Nelly singing lets take off all our clothes was not offensive? Kid Rock talking about his heros at the methadone clinic. 90 percent of that half time show was inappropriate

Don't you just love how the NFL runs all these United Way commercials showing how their players--and by implicit connection the league itself-- supposedly cares so much for kids and their communities--and then puts parents from sea to shining sea in a VERY awkward position of having to explain this crap to their kids? The way I see it, the league got what it wanted--just look at all the ads for E.D. drugs--i.e. Levitra, Citralis.
The league sells sex. It got burned this time.

offensive

the thing with janet jackson's breast was only to help sell air time for the grammy awards. the most offensive thing about the half time show was nelly pulling on his thing. best thing to do with his hands tie them behind his back when he sings.

I'm not going to say wether I agree with what they did or not or wether I think it was acceptable for where or how it happened, but they obviously accomplished what they were wanting to do... How many of you have talked about it or heard about it on the radio today? Personally, I'm already sick of hearing about it and I didn't even see it. It's called publicity - and I think it's pretty sad that people will get it whichever way they can these days - good/bad or classy/tacky.

I agree wholeheartedly. This halftime show was nothing but raunchy from the start to finish.
