Jason Feger, 24, from Bloomington, Illinois, drives the #25 Late Model at LaSalle and Farmer City Speedways in Illinois. He is currently a student at Illinois State University and employed as an ASE Certified Technician at Walden Automotive. Jason receives help from his mother - Tracy Sleeter, she designs the lettering on the car, t-shirts, our website, etc., Austin – Jason’s 22 year old brother, is the Crew Chief, along with Ryan Courtney. “Without Austin and Ryan's, help there is no way everything would get done for us to race as much as we did in 2002.” Thanks to his step father - Hans Sleeter, the house garage sort of became Austin and Jason’s as they use all of it for the race car. Also, a special thanks to grandpa Ron "Red" Griffin and grandma Maria Griffin.

Jason Feger is enroute to become one of the leading competitors throughout Central Illinois. He previously raced in the Sportsman class. As a Sportsman in 2000 and 2001, he had over 20 feature victories and 45 dash or heat wins. He also has won two Sportsman challenges at LaSalle Speedway and an Illinois Sportsman Championship. He got started in racing through his grandpa Ron "Red" Griffin. Mr. Griffin raced for years in Illinois and Missouri. Jason never got to see him race as he quit in 1974. His father also raced for a couple of years and his uncle still races. But when asked about his favorite driver, “Bob Pierce - ever since I was a little boy and was able to watch him at Farmer City.”

Jason got the idea to use the #25 from his grandpa's race car. He had seen pictures of it and that was the number that his grandpa used. He also had the #25 while he played football. When Jason was asked about his future plans, his response was, “Our entire team is hoping to make a career of it. We sort of started in Late Models much later than some guys, but I didn't have the money to back me, so we had to start with a Sportsman car. Like all racers, every cent I make goes to the car. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to pay the guys that help. I would like to be able to support them and pay them for all of the work that they do.” Jason’s biggest influence is people like Bob Pierce. The people who have had to use their talent, those who were not born wealthy or rich, but have to earn everything they have.

Jason’s career highlight was being able to go to the World 100. “WOW...we were able to qualify 26th the first time we were there. As great as that was, it was still extremely disappointing not to make the actual race. The entire experience at Eldora was fun. The people, all the great drivers, and just being able to participate was exciting. We didn't even know for sure we would be able to go until that Saturday before the World.” His scariest moment? “A car stalled on the track right in front of me at LaSalle. Our car was super fast that night. When the other car stalled, I didn't have anywhere to go. Our car became airborne and almost landed on the wall. If we would have landed on the wall, it would have crushed my brother and Ryan.”

Jason would like to add, “I have to thank my brother and my friends who are dedicated to racing and want to win as much as I do. Austin and Ryan Courtney work on the car every night during the racing season. My other friends help out as much as they
possibly can. They are Jay Fitzgerald, Brandon Atkins, Jason Norton, and Ryan Thoennes. Nate and Chuck come over and help me clean the garage. Niki also helps whenever she is not in school. Also, I need to mention my Grandpa and Grandma, Ron and Maria Griffin...they always come to the races and support us. Plus, thanks to our many sponsors, most of whom have been with us since our sportsman car. We really appreciate any help they give us, cause it makes our lives better.”

Bonus Questions:
What tape or CD is in your car/Truck right now? Rage Against the Machine.
What is your favorite movie? Days of Thunder, of course.
Who was the poster on your wall growing up? (or who did you idolize growing up?) Bob Pierce, had his car pictures up on my wall and Michael Jordon.
Who is the best driver you have raced against? This is very hard to say. Last Summer I was able to participate in the Summernationals against lots of extremely good drivers. I guess I would have to say Bloomer, Moyer and Pierce.
Any lucky charms or superstitions? Not really, try to do little talking and hope the results speak for themselves.
Any nick names? If so, how did you get it? No nicknames, not yet anyway.
