(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer and Todd Rosebrugh's #1r team hooked up and spent the August 26-27 weekend at Merritt Speedway in Lake City, Michigan, as the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series presided over the 'Great Lakes Shootout,' which kicked off on Saturday evening with a $6,000 to win program. Jeep laid down the twelfth quickest time in Group B during qualifying prior to grabbing the third transfer spot through his heat race. After rolling off from the outside of the sixth row in the 30-lap feature, Jeep was unfortunately involved in a lap seven incident and retired from the race in the twenty-first position.
On Sunday night, a whopping $15,000 top prize was on the line in the 'Great Lakes Shootout' grand finale. Jeep posted the twenty-second fastest lap overall during WOOLMS time trials, but unfortunately lost a motor early in his heat race. The Pinconning, Michigan native was forced to scratch from the remainder of the program and was unable to transfer into the 75-lapper, which was eventually won by Chris Madden. The winner of the "Biggest Dirt Race in the World" will receive a gigantic $50,000 for their efforts at the 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant. Jeep has transferred into nine 'World 100' headliners during his career with his best finish of third coming in both 2006 and 2008.
