(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer and the Iron Motorsports team
wrapped up their 2004 racing season last weekend at the state-of-the-art
Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, KY. The weekend kicked off on
Friday night with the running of the ‘Bluegrass Nationals’ on the 3/8-mile,
high-banked oval. Jeep won his heat race in preliminary action on Friday
and finished seventh in the $2,000 to win feature event.

The annual running of the ‘Commonwealth Cup’ was on tap for Saturday night,
but the event was pushed back a day due to inclement weather in the area.
Jeep qualified in the top twenty and ran second in his heat race behind the
wheel of his Bayline Fire Protection / Miller Bros. Coal #55 Warrior / Pro
Power Ford Taurus. His strong heat race performance gave Jeep a thirteenth
place starting position for the 50-lap, $20,000 to win feature event. After
the dust had settled over Kentucky facility, Jeep was paid for thirteenth at
the pay window.

“It was a decent weekend for us,” stated the young driver from his
Pinconning, MI home on Monday. “Kentucky Lake has been a good track for us
in the past and I really like racing there. Friday night could have been
better if we hadn’t knocked the nose off on the cushion. But, the track was
in great shape all weekend and I think that (race promoter) Sherri did
really well for her first big event.”

The Iron Motorsports team wound up reaching victory lane three times in
2004, all of which came in his home state of Michigan. Jeep also amassed 6
Top Five finishes and 15 Top Ten efforts in the 47 events that he competed
in this season. He finished thirteenth in the final version of the Stacker2
Xtreme Dirtcar Series and placed fifth in the Lucas Oil Rookie of the Year
standings. Jeep also had several top finishes in XDCS events that were
broadcast on the SPEED Channel. He had one Top Five run and four Top Ten
finishes in front of the SPEED cameras this season.

“2004 was an up and down year for us, but we learned a lot,” said Van
Wormer. “We raced on a lot of tracks we had never seen before and raced
against some great competition on the Xtreme circuit. I have to thank all
of my sponsors and my crew for their immeasurable support this season. We
will prep our equipment this off-season and start getting ready for Florida.
I am looking forward to having a great 2005 season!”
