Weekly racing continued last Friday and Saturday for association member drivers competing under the United Late Model Association (ULMA) sanction banner. Central Missouri Speedway, Callaway Raceway, and Butler Motor Speedway were all in action; Lucas Oil Speedway did not run their regular weekly program due to a special event. Once the final checkered flags flew on weekend events, two drivers claimed their second ULMA wins of the year and advanced in the overall standings as a result of their efforts.

Jeff Schlup of California, MO became the second multiple ULMA feature winner this year after racing concluded last Friday evening at Callaway Raceway near Fulton, MO; Schlup also drove to victory back on May 23rd. There were 8 ULMA member drivers present among 15 late models competing. The win came in Schlup's seventh start this season. Heading into this weekend Schlup now occupies the eighth position in ULMA standings. Chasing Schlup to the finish line was Jamestown, MO driver Walt Imhoff, who scored his best-ever ULMA-sanctioned finish in second position in his Imhoff Construction, Advanced Chimney Techniques, L&S Propane, Creason Racing Engines Chevy GRT. Moberly, MO driver Danny Lorton had another consistent top-five run and ran third in the Schurbon Race Engines, TCI Automotive Gran Prix #27 GRT. Current ULMA point leader, Robbie Test of Jefferson City, MO, driving the Wineland Enterprises, Bonecutter's Body Shop, Engine Connection, INCE Chassis #1, finished fourth with Robbie Wright having a strong run to pick up his first top five ULMA finish of the year. Racing resumes this Friday, June 12th at the track; if Friday's action is foiled by Mother Nature, the race program will take place on Sunday, June 14th. Two ULMA members were present at Butler Motor Speedway (BMS) last Friday night among ten competing late models. Kevin Coyne, driving his Buckner Surplus, Photo Graphics by Shelly Payne, ARI Grandview, Race Ready Custom Fab, American Made #22 scored a top-five finish in the fourth position. Dwight Niehoff from Lockwood, MO was scored tenth in his Stefan Farms, Esson Auto Parts, Willcross Hybrid Seeds, Yeoman Race Engines #9d. Niehoff, one of the youngest competitors running for ULMA points this year, has risen to seventh in the overall standings after ten starts this season. Last week marked the return to racing at BMS after a week off; track prep allowed for some great Friday-night racing last weekend. Be sure to visit the track's official Web site at www.butlermotorspeedway.webs.com. For track information call (816) 618-3691, on race day call (816) 738-9433. BMS is located just 45 minutes south of Kansas City off of Hwy 71 in Butler, MO.

Last Saturday, at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS), a total of 17 member drivers competed among the field of 21 cars on hand. Three heat races were contested to sort out the feature line-up. Cole Camp, MO driver Kevin Kaiser drove to victory by methodically taking his time and driving with patience to advance from fifth to claim victory. Kaiser, in his 2009 INCE Chassis, Yeager's Cycles, CRS Certified Repair Service of Sedalia, Durham Racing Engines, Signs by Wild Bill #40, sought out a line that worked for him in the middle lane and claimed his second ULMA victory of the year, and first at CMS, in an exciting finish with second-running Jon Binning of Warrensburg close behind. A multiple feature winner last year, Binning scored his best run of the year in his All-Pro Electrical, Bodee's Race Bodies, M&N Consultants & General Contractors, Podium Inc., GRT #65. Finishing a very strong third moving up from his ninth starting position was Odessa, MO driver Steve Clancy. Another patient driver, Clancy used timing and race experience to hold his line when he had to and move out of it when he needed to make a pass. Danny Lorton scored his second top five of the weekend in fourth with Excelsior Springs' driver Randy Ainsworth in fifth; Ainsworth has now advanced to sixth overall with ten starts this season. Kevin Coyne, Imhoff, Niehoff, Danny Monroe, and Bob Test, who battled for the win early on, rounded out the top ten. CMS holds another week of competition this Saturday night, be sure to check out all the latest track news at www.centralmissourispeedway.net.
