Jeremy Mayfield

JR 25

everydays a holiday
ESPN is reporting he tested positive for meth a second time. His Nascar days are over??

Drugs

I heard that Jeremy Mayfield is taking some kind of prescription drug like Claritin and something else and those combined gives you the false positive for meth.. is that true? I like Jeremy Mayfield and would hate to think that he's into hard drugs like that....I hope it's a FALSE POSITIVE...

He failed a random drug test taken on July 6th. They sent the B sample to a testing lab O.K.'d by his lawyer and it came up negative. Mayfield says Nascar cant be trusted and smudges the testing. More dirt comes out on Mayfield. His step mother is saying that she seen him us it at least 30 times in seven years. She also said he cooked it up his self until they stop selling pseudo (spelling) something over the counter years back. She claims to of seen him using at the race shop using and while traveling to Darlington for a race. Mayfield says she is a scam and has been trying to get money from him, so now he claims she's going for Nascar's money.

Jeremy Methhead or Jeremy Methfield, which one sound better.

As Hard as he has tried to get back into NASCAR, I just can't see that he would be doing all this to still be using and test positive. Just seems that he would go away and quit trying to get reinstated if he was addicted and used it all the time like his MIL said.

on NASCARS web site it says he took 2 test. 1 from NASCAR and the other from another company. TEST NOT BACK YET. don't hang the man just yet. He did not test positive yet. If it is an over the counter drug that test a false / positive then let him race god knows other drivers are not doing pills to keep them going. Right?

The story is on ESPN.com. It doesn't sound good for him. ESPN tv said that the last employee of Mayfield Motorsports has quit too. Maybe they know something.

I think.......

I think that NASCAR tested him the first time. He tested false-positive due to taking an over-the-counter drug with another drug. NASCAR decided to "make an example out of him." He didn't go away, but rather fought back because he was right. Now, NASCAR has egg on their faces and did what it took to come out on top, no matter what the cost. I'd bet in a few weeks, it comes out that Mayfield's step-mom got paid to say what she did. You have to ask yourself, "Why would she provide an affidavit to NASCAR against her own step-son? What sense does that make? Well, I've had it with all of the NASCRAP over the past 7 or so years. I keep waiting to see a Rick Hendrick, Jack Rousch, or someone with the money tell NASCAR to go ***** themselves, then get with Humpy Wheeler, and several of the other track owners and form another stock car body to compete with NASCRAP. If they did that, NASCAR would be toast!! Just like CART was when IRL had enough. Just my opinion. I think they should get rid of the road courses and have 2 races on dirt. That's getting back to grass-roots racing, and if they ran it like a Saturday night race, heat races, B-mains, and A-main with points broken down so that you got points accordingly it would be real cool. I know fantasy land, right?

I can't believe Nascar, a media darling, would have wanted this kind of press in the first place. A driver on meth, so they tried to cover it up for there own sake. But mayfield an addict refuse to give up now he's done for sure.

ESPN isn't always a reliable source of information.

It kinda looks like Mayfield is going to have to find a different place to race. I guess he'll move on to dirt. Who knows?

Jeremy Mayfield tested positive again for methamphetamine, NASCAR said, igniting another round of denials from the driver, who angrily accused the sanctioning body of paying his stepmother to lie about his alleged past drug use.

The positive result from a July 6 random test was included in a U.S. District Court filing Wednesday that asked the federal judge who lifted Mayfield's drug suspension to reinstate the ban. The filing included an affidavit from Mayfield's stepmother, Lisa, who said she saw Mayfield using methamphetamine at least 30 times over seven years.

"I don't trust anything NASCAR does, anything Dr. David Black does, never have, never will," Mayfield told The Associated Press in a phone interview. Black is the administrator for NASCAR's drug-testing program.
"And they picked the wrong woman to use against me because that [expletive] is trash and has got nothing on me but lies."
According to documents, Lisa Mayfield said she first saw the driver use meth in 1998 at a race shop in Mooresville, N.C. She said Mayfield cooked his own drugs until the ingredient pseudoephedrine was taken off the shelves and it became too difficult for Mayfield to obtain the ingredients. She said her stepson then began to purchase meth from others.
"Between 1998 and 2005, I am personally aware that Jeremy used methamphetamines often," she said in her affidavit. "I was concerned about his heavy use and talked to his father about it. I saw Jeremy use methamphetamine by snorting it up his nose at least 30 times during the seven years I was around him. Jeremy used methamphetamine not only in my presence, but also when we were both in the presence of others."
Mayfield contested his stepmother's account.

"She's tried everything she can do to get money out of me. I won't help her, so I guess she found a way to get money from NASCAR by giving them an affidavit full of lies," he said.
Mayfield was suspended May 9 for failing a random drug test conducted eight days earlier. NASCAR later said he tested positive for methamphetamine.

He sued, and U.S. District Court Judge Graham Mullen issued an injunction July 1 that allowed Mayfield to return to competition. Mullen based his decision on Mayfield's argument that the testing system is flawed and there was a reasonable likelihood of a false positive. He also gave NASCAR the right to test Mayfield at any time.

NASCAR did just that five days later at Mayfield's home and said in its filings that the "A" sample had levels of methamphetamine consistent with habitual users who consume high doses.

"My only comment is that's their result," Mayfield attorney John Buric said. "But what I want you to keep in mind is that test was performed by the defendants in the case. Aegis Laboratories and Dr. Black are defendants in this case. I don't know if NASCAR has the right to ask the defendant to test Jeremy's urine sample. It ought to be done independently, but NASCAR didn't do that."

On July 6, Mayfield also had a second test at a lab chosen by his attorneys. Buric said that test came back negative but was sent back to the lab Wednesday for "reconfirmation" after the NASCAR test results were received.

The filing also claims Mayfield and his attorneys have failed to select a qualified laboratory to test the backup "B" sample. Buric acknowledged the two sides are haggling over a lab for the "B" sample and said NASCAR rejected the lab they picked.

Lisa Mayfield said her stepson told her he used meth before a season-ending NASCAR awards ceremony while driving for Ray Evernham. She also said Mayfield used meth during a 1999 trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., that preceded a race at nearby Darlington Raceway.

"We left Myrtle Beach and traveled to Darlington for the race," she wrote. "I saw Jeremy using methamphetamine again when we reached Darlington."

Mayfield said all of Lisa Mayfield's claims were lies based on being monetarily cut off following her husband's 2007 death.
"She don't deserve the Mayfield name," he said. "She's hated me since my dad got killed because I won't give her any money. She goes on the Internet and blogs lies about me and Shana [his wife] and everything you can imagine. She's broke, and I guess she got NASCAR to give her some money."

Mayfield also said he has independently been tested at least six times since his failed May 1 test, and all came back negative.
Meantime, Mayfield's lawyers filed their response Wednesday to NASCAR's motion last week to overturn Mullen's injunction.
The brief, which didn't include the results of Mayfield's latest drug case, argued NASCAR was trying to "fashion the rules to their liking" by not meeting the requirements needed to overturn the ruling. Mayfield's lawyers argued Mullen had correctly ruled that Mayfield faced irreparable harm from a suspension and doubts remain about the accuracy of NASCAR's testing policy.

"NASCAR is absolutely corrupted by power, and its untenable motion to stay should be denied," his lawyers wrote.

With the mud slinging that has been going on for the last month or two. The test should be performed by a court appointed group. I wouldn't put anything past either side.

That would be the best way to quit wasting money on court proceedings. It would be the only legit test conducted. I don't think it will stop the mudslinging though. They are in all out war.

This whole thing is looking pretty fishy. I would have a little more faith in NASCAR, but they lied about a failed drug test to kick out Tim Richmond so it is not unheard of. At this point I do not trust either side. NASCAR says that he failed two tests but will not send his B sample to another lab for testing. Mayfield claims that he is taking tests every few days and all have been negative. All NASCAR had to do was put in place a simple policy with an actual list of banned drugs and they would have saved themselves a lot of legal bills. I would love to know the truth, but after the lawyers are done fighting this I'm not sure that we ever will know what happened.

I am not a fan of NASCRAP by any means and really have no personal like or dislike for Jeremy Mayfield. There is something fishy going on with both sides. As much as I don't like NASCRAP I am sure they have a drug program that has been researched by the best legal team money can buy. And as far as Mayfield goes - his career is toast! He will probably even have trouble selling his team. I know a person is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty - but in this case I wouldn't want to race against him until he was proven not-guilty. Would you want to take that chance?

Could there be something to his excuse about the meds he was on? I would like to give Mayfield the benefit of the doubt that if the 1st test was right, that he'd for sure be clean for this test.

If WWAAAA-SCAR paid this lady for her statement, can't JM go back on them for that? Sounds like a plot to destroy to me... It's like having a lawyer pay off witness's to get THEIR side of the story, rather then the truth...

Sum-tin iz nawt rought....

I would think that if I was in his position and I tested positive for taking "over-the-counter" meds that I would make positive sure that I QUIT TAKING them and visited my personal physician to get the PROPER meds that I needed. This leaves a documented paper trail. I would make sure that NASCRAP received a copy of my prescription to remove ALL doubt if I tested positive during a test.
